Tiny waves this week easing, possible surf days later next week
Central QLD Forecaster Notes by Steve Shearer (updated on Wed July 31st)
This weekend and next week (July31-Aug 9)
Central QLD: Tiny waves this week easing, possible surf days later next week
Fun waves since yesterday.
Some just rideable surf easing tomorrow
Tradewinds near New Caledonia and extending into the Coral Sea have maintained some small, fun surf. A developing low pressure system between Vanuatu and Fiji is now deepening and sliding off to the SE, dragging the trade fetch with it. As a result we’ll see surf start to ease from tomorrow, with a few small fun waves Sat, becoming marginal on Sun/Mon.
There is high pressure expected to move into the Tasman later next week but at this stage it looks like weak SE flow through the Coral Sea.
Lets see how it looks on Mon.
Seeya then and have a great weekend!
Wed Update: SE winds have supplied some just rideable surf through today. This waves should ease through Thurs into Fri.
We'll have a full update Fri.
