Extended run of small fun waves ahead
Central QLD Forecaster Notes by Steve Shearer (updated on Fri July 5th)
This weekend and next week (July5-July 12)
Central QLD: Extended run of small fun waves ahead
Plenty of fun waves since Thurs, continuing over the weekend.
We’re still being dominated by the record breaking (1044hPa) high in the Bight, although it is very slowly easing as it moves towards Tasmania. A small trough of low pressure in the Coral Sea is moving north and the broad fetch aimed at CQ will maintain coverage in the Coral Sea so expect plenty of fun surf over the weekend.
Into next week and the fetch holds in the Coral Sea so we should see surfable days through Mon and into Tues. Further ahead winds feeding into the trough start to migrate southwards and eastwards so we should see easing surf from Thurs but it should stay rideable right through until next weekend. A good run of surf for July.
Check back Mon for the latest and until then, have a great weekend!
