Central QLD Forecaster Notes by Steve Shearer (updated on Wed June 26th)

This weekend and next week (June 26-July 5)

Central QLD: Tiny waves, just rideable continue

A few tiny waves on the low tides the last couple of days.

Up and riding on the inside!

As mentioned in Mondays notes, the Tasman sea is benign this week with a weak high cell sitting over NSW and slowly moving into the Tasman with a weak trade flow in the Coral Sea, stronger in the tropics.  All the action remains in the Bight and SW corner with a complex series of slow moving cut-off lows in that region (see Craigs’ Victorian/WA notes for details). There’s just enough strength in the Coral Sea trade fetch to supply some small/tiny waves on low tides into the weekend.

Just enough strength in the Coral Sea trade flow to supply some tiny waves

Surf then eases next week. By the end of next week we should see a strong high in lower Tasman with a SE surge pushing up the QLD coast likely Wed with surf becoming rideable either later Thurs or into Fri.

Check back Fri for the latest.
