A couple of just rideable days ahead
Central QLD Forecaster Notes by Steve Shearer (updated on Mon June 24th)
This weekend and next week (June 24-July 5)
Central QLD: A couple of just rideable days ahead
Almost rideable- not dead flat
All the action is in the Bight at the moment, with a deep slow moving cut-off low. The Tasman Sea, by contrast, is looking very mellow with a weak high pressure cell over NSW and a few decaying remnants of the long lasting Tasman Low sitting near New Zealand. A sub-tropical low on the other side of the North Island is completely blocked from our swell window by that Island.
Mostly tiny surf into Tues. A sub-tropical low north of the North Island scooted away to the SE over the weekend and as a result the long range E/SE swell is likely to be closer to 1-2ft than 3ft with just the occ bigger set across open Burnett coast exposures.
That swell should gently pulse on lower tides from late Tues through Wed/Thurs.
By Fri and into the weekend it will be back to tiny/flat.
Lifeless Coral Sea next week= flat spell
Nothing much on the radar for next week so expect tiny/flat surf into the first week of July.
Let’s see how it looks on Wed.
Seeya then.
