Central QLD Forecaster Notes by Steve Shearer (updated on Mon June 3rd)

This week and next week (June3-June 14)

Central QLD: Possible small bump in size Thurs/Fri- otherwise, looking like tiny surf will become the norm as winter sets in

Just a tiny wave on offer

A coastal low is situated near Tasmania with a weak high moving off the QLD coast in the next 24-36hrs. Weak winds in the Coral Sea will see surf drop back to tiny this week.

There is a sliver of hope if a trough deepens off the Fraser Coast Thurs before moving south. That may see a small bump in swell later Thurs into Fri.

Small increrase possible if this trough comes off

Longer term we are now seeing a winter-style pattern develop with high pressure moving up over the continent and weak winds in the Coral Sea swell window for CQ.

Thus, expect tiny/flat surf to develop from this weekend into next week.

Winter pattern next week brings tiny/flat surf

Check back Wed and we’ll see how this little bump on Thurs/Fri is looking.

Seeya then.
