Central QLD: Surf pattern persists due to strong high pressure belt

Fun waves over the weekend, rebuilding again this week

Fun, very crowded on the weekend

We have a similar pattern to last week with monster high pressure (1037hPa) sitting in the Bight and becoming very slow moving as it approaches Tasmania. In fact, it becomes reinforced by a new high and this peanut high straddling Tasmania will hold a firm ridge along most of the Eastern Seaboard with another working week of SE winds, gradually backing off into the weekend. As the SE surge takes hold we’ll see a further increase in swell, possibly not until Wed now with fun surf extending right into the weekend.

SE surge brings another round of fun surf this week

Next week sees more of the same as the Coral Sea remains filled with SE-E/SE winds, albeit further towards New Caledonia.

Surfable every day, biggest later this week.

Check back Wed for the latest.
