Central QLD Forecaster Notes by Steve Shearer (updated on Wed 1st Nov)

This weekend and next week (Nov1-Nov10)

Central QLD: Tiny swells over the weekend, with some small E'ly tradewind swell next week

Surf easing back to tiny/flat and onshore.

The deep Tasman low near the North Island has now dissipated and left the building with a small low in the Central/Southern Tasman  while weak fronts approach from W. This pattern remains slow moving as large high slowly approaches from South of the Bight. In the short term we'll see swells continue to remain tiny/flat over the CQ coastline with onshore winds from the N.

As the strong high moves E of Tasmania on Sun we'll see tradewinds start to build across the Coral Sea (see below) That will see some small/fun E'ly swell start to build Tues next week. It's not an especially strong tradewind band so surf will likely stay small- 1-2ft- for most of next week.

Weak tradewind band generates some small E'ly swell next week

Check back Fri and we’ll see how it’s shaping up.
