Small over the weekend but hope on the horizon
Central QLD Forecaster Notes by Steve Shearer (updated on Fri Oct 20th)
This weekend and next week (Oct 20-Oct 27)
Central QLD: Small over the weekend but hope on the horizon
Nothing much doing as high pressure drifts out into the Tasman.
We’ll see tiny surf over the weekend and into early next week.
We mentioned a potential TC forming this coming week. The potential TC is unlikely to be a swell source but there is one modelled track where it briefly pushes into the swell window between Vanuatu and New Caledonia, offering some potential for E/NE swell Thurs/Fri. Very low confidence at the moment. We’ll revisit on Mon.
Much better odds for surf as a strong SE surge builds up the coast Fri, with a broad SE fetch in the Coral Sea over next weekend and into early next week. That should see rideable surf develop Fri and hold in the fun-sized range into the weekend and potentially early week after.
Early days still, so lets see how it looks Mon.
Seeya then and have a great weekend!
