Flat spell extends into the weekend
Central QLD Forecaster Notes by Steve Shearer (issued on Wed 29th March)
This week and next week (Mar29-Apr7)
Central QLD:Flat spell extends into the weekend
No rideable surf on offer.
Still a complex, troughy pattern in play with a slow moving trough of low pressure drifting south off the Gippsland coast towards waters East of Tasmania. A front sweeping in behind the trough is bringing a clearing W’ly flow through temperate NSW today, reaching the sub-tropics tomorrow. A belt of high pressure below the continent is now weakening and setting us up for a more benign pattern compared to Mondays notes.
Lack of swell generating tradewinds in the Coral Sea sees tiny/flat surf extend through this weekend.
The next possible surf days are possibly Mon/Tues next week as a new high sets up a ridge along the QLD coast. Local winds in the CQ swell window may be sufficient to see some 1-2ft surf develop during these days before winds contract Eastwards again.
It’s really too far away to have much confidence in a this stage but we’ll keep tabs on it and report back on Fri.
Seeya then.
