This week and next week (Feb13-Feb24)

Central QLD: Not much on offer this week- next week looks more promising

Ex TC Gabrielle is now hovering near the North Island with swell still being generated for SEQLD, with these swells mostly being blocked by Fraser and the Capricorn reefs.

N'ly winds and easing swells

Northerly winds and easing swells are on offer this week with weak pressure gradients in the Coral Sea.

Next week looks much more promising as blocking high pressure becomes established in New Zealand longitudes and a long tradewind fetch sets up through the South Pacific into the Coral Sea.

That's likely to see SE-ESE winds develop from Sun/Mon with a small increase through Mon, and becoming surfable for most of next week.

Tradewinds developing next week suggest surfable days

Further north we may see more developments with tropical depressions in the Coral Sea. We’ll just flag this for now and see how it shapes up this week-any surf will be later next week at the earliest.

We’ll see how all those sources shape up on Wed. Seeya then.
