This weekend and next week (Mar25-Apr 1)

Central QLD: Flat spell lifting on Sun and waves early next week

No great changes expected this week. Surf has been tiny to flat, perfect for fishing/diving and that is expected to extend into the end of the week.

Reinforcing high pressure is now moving into the Tasman Sea, and while the pattern off the East Coast is very troughy a ridge of high pressure is expected to build along the Fraser/CQ Coast.

This ridge of high pressure builds a fetch of Tradewinds through the Coral Sea over the coming 24-48 hrs and while the troughiness off the NSW coast disrupts the tradewind flow it should be sufficient in width and strength to see 1ft surf build later Sat, building further Sun into the 1-2ft range.

Tradewind flow weakened by troughiness off the NSW Coast, still enough to push up some surf

Monday looks to see surf in the 1-2ft range continue with winds depending on a developing low off the SEQLD/Wide Bay coast.

That will drag E’ly winds southwards below the Fraser Island/Breaksea Spit swell window.

Under this scenario we would expect surf to decline Tues into the 0.5-1ft range and then return to flat Wed as SW to W winds kick around the northern flank of the low.

Check Mon for the latest update and a have a great weekend!
