Fun days ahead, becoming small early next week, good swell Thursday/Friday
Java, Bali, Lombok, Sumbawa forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Thu 30th Oct)
Best Days: Friday through Monday morning at exposed breaks, Thursday onwards next week
This weekend through Wednesday (Oct 31 – Nov 5)
Exposed breaks have been the pick the last two mornings with some good but inconsistent swell. More protected locations are quite slow and not the best option if you've got the ability to chase some more size.
Over the coming days the swell should pulse between the 4-6ft range at exposed breaks as our inconsistent S/SW groundswell pulses continue across the region. A late kick in new swell tomorrow should build towards a peak through Saturday with the surf coming more in the 5-6ft range during the afternoon/evening.
A slight drop back to 4-6ft is due Sunday ahead of a more noticeable easing trend into the start of next week, bottoming out Wednesday to a very inconsistent 2-3ft at super exposed breaks.
Winds are expected to remain light and variable each morning with weak S-SE winds developing during the day, so exposed breaks will be the go over the coming few days.
Next Thursday onwards (Nov 6 onwards)
Our better pulses of groundswell into the second half of next week are still on track with an amplification of the Long Wave Trough moving through the Southern Indian Ocean due to steer a couple of vigorous cold fronts through our swell window from tomorrow through until early next week.
The first S/SW swell due Thursday afternoon, easing Friday will be the largest, with the frontal system generating it being broader and closer positioned to us compared to the secondary system which will be further away but a touch stronger.
This swell should build to an inconsistent 6ft+ at exposed breaks later Thursday and then ease from a similar size Friday morning, further down into Saturday.
The secondary swell will be more SW in direction and arrive overnight Saturday, peaking Sunday morning to an infrequent 5-6ft.
Winds for these swells look to remain favourable and be variable each morning with moderate SE trades develop through the day.
Longer term there's nothing too major on the cards so try and plan around these better groundswell pulses through the period.
