Better Days
To cope with the miniscule monotony Swellnet photographer, Jack Dekort, has trawled back through his recent archives. Lifting his spirits by recollecting better days from the past year.
Moche Rip Curl Pro Portugal: Finals Day
Fair to say most people gave their attention to Mick's world title run yesterday: would he claim it in Portugal? Most people that is, but not all.
Great Waits
The new Surfing Australia boardrider comp got off to a freight-training start last weekend. Waitpinga, on South Australia's south coast, turned on blue moon barrels for competitors and non-competitors alike.
Moche Rip Curl Pro Portugal: Day 3
The biggest air in contest history? The second biggest..? Who knows, but Julian Wilson's Round 3 oop against CJ Hobgood was a fine effort, and if it didn't eclipse John John's Balinese version it went awfully close.
Moche Rip Curl Pro Portugal: Day 2
Bet you weren't expecting that, eh? Know I wasn't. Slater goes down in Round 2 to a local wildcard registering his first 25th of the season. With that result he almost certainly hands the world title to Mick Fanning (if Mick gets third or better he wins at Portugal, if not the decider happens at Pipe).
Maldives Surf Report - September, Part 2
It's the photo overflow from last week's Maldives Swell Report! We couldn't squeeze all the images into the original gallery so have created Part 2.
Maldives Surf Report - September
There’s really not much that I can say about September that I didn’t say in August - it was a very good month. The first week set the pace. It started with the Maldivian staple: 2-4ft of clean S/SE swell and light off-shores that enabled us to surf all the waves in the area.
Moche Rip Curl Pro Portugal: Day 1
Competition began straight off the bat at the Moche Rip Curl Pro Portugal - first day of the waiting period and they're into Round 1. The World Title may be decided here at Portugal so there's a delicious backstory running through the heats: Mick or Kelly, who'll be the champ?
Magic Valley
Over the green hills, through the magical valley, then descend into the luscious grove - don't touch the colourful mushrooms!
Jesse Little leads a group of merry pranksters into fun waves at an enchanted beach.
Bombshell Beachie: Part 2
The sequel to last weeks photos from a wild beachbreak somewhere in Indonesia. This time, however, it's Gold Coast photographer Grant Davis behind the lens as the sets strafe the shallow sandbank around him. Included in the shots are Dave Seymour, Khairil Satusuku, Nic Baxter and Tim Bradford.
Quiksilver Pro France: Finals Day
Atrocious, just atrocious. That'd be the best way to describe the surf for the finals of the Quik Pro France. A freshening northerly seabreeze whipped up the small beachbreaks putting paid to barrels and opening up the air game. Fitting then, that Gabriel Medina made it to the finals - his best result of the year - by going left and punting into the wind.
Quiksilver Pro France: Day 4
"The direction the wave comes in just won't allow them to peak up anywhere," said Kelly Slater of the closeout conditions on Day 4 of the Quik Pro France. "It's just a flip of a coin and hoping that something happens out there for you."
Quiksilver Pro France: Day 3
After a four day interlude filled with pastries, wine and not much surfing, the Quik Pro France kicked back into gear. The surf at La Graviere was a clean and punchy 4-6 foot with barrels a'plenty. Surprisingly, all the locals and the near-enough-to-locals were ousted. Jez Flores, Aritz Aranburu and Ramzi Boukhiam all came undone in Round 3.
Selatan Sumatra
"We had back-to-back swells which meant it was almost too big for most of the days we were there."
Quiksilver Pro France: Day 2
Just seven heats were surfed at the Quik Pro France yesterday - the remaining heats of Round 2.
Quiksilver Pro France: Day 1
"Dane can do anything at any given time," said big Jordy Smith after his Round 2 match up against the world's best freesurfer.
Cloud Nine, Day Two
Day Two of the 19th Annual Siargao International saw a number of Perfect 10 rides. Indonesia's Dede Suryana scored the first 10. In the very next heat Filipino local Osot Alcala took off on a thick-lipped beauty that stayed open an impossibly long time before ejecting him into the channel.
Roxy Pro France: Finals Day
Overnight Sally Fitzgibbon won the Roxy Pro France beating Tyler Wright in a close-fought final.
Cloud Nine, Day One
Living up to its reputation as one of the world's best righthand barreling waves, Cloud 9 delivered solid 5-6 foot perfection today to start the ASC 6 star 1
Hurley Pro Trestles: Finals Day
Well that's that. Trestles is done and Taj is the winner, Julian placing second.
