I'm sure there's been way worse wipeouts in the Billabong Pro Tahiti, but still, this li'l selection is gruesome enough to satisfy the sadists.

This year's comp starts August 19th.

Long range forecasts are showing a sniff of something reasonable for the comp this year, yeah?

Brutal.

I'm out for a minimum month, maybe two after a nasty wipeout on a 4ft day last week. Bummed because it's been pumping here since.

This is next level.

Shit, that's no good, what happened and what you do?

Speared into about a foot of water coming off an awkward floater. Hit the bottom real hard head/shoulder first and thought I 'd broken my neck at first. Scared me as I was in a pretty isolated spot. Managed to drive home one handed and my wife came home from work and took me to emergency.

Tore my deltoid and have cracked 3 ribs. Hurts to breathe, laugh, cough. Hurts like a mo-fo to lift my arm higher than shoulder height.

Had cortisone injection straight into the tear and fainted. That would have been comical. On pain killers 3 times a day now and have to wear these medicated patches over my shoulder and ribs.

So pretty bummed, waves everywhere, I'm on summer hols and I just got a new board that I've been loving.

Could have been worse though. Makes you realise how easily shit can happen surfing.

Shit, yeah very lucky no major spinal/neck damage, can happen so easily!

Rest up and hope you're sweet for the coming snow season!

'Speared into about a foot of water coming off an awkward floater. '

Good grief, at least its not another foamball, highchair saga.

Translation: Got stuck in the lip again trying to turn... on my zenmazing new board!

Don't bother with blax! You'll faint for sure!

Cheers Goof.

Yep, pretty much hung up in the lip and landed out in the flats. Coulda happened to anyone.

Well, anyone that actually still surfs.

But, all jokes aside, get a shoulderhorn zen. It will help heal your delt, by strengthening the structures that support/stabilize delts, simultaneously maximising blood flow, so healing. Without putting too much stress on the actual deltoid. Make sure when you rehab the muscle, do it in a way to minimise scarring. Let pain mean something. You have to strengthen the delts without pain. Pain is your monitor for micro tearing. You can't re injure it while its healing. Patience is critical. Life is long. Watch out for those needles that dull pain. So, the movements and techniques are crucial, or you'll end up with a bigger, more inflexible scar. Negatives, super slow, etc.

And, positive affirmations... the mantra... I can be lifty... I can be lifty... I can be lifty... I can be lifty... I can be lifty. Until its unconscious. (Even though you can't possibly, it will feel good... better, till the bitter end.)

Thankyou Hunt, I'll suss one out. That's the kind of advice I was hoping to get. Might go by some other name here. The doc said there was nothing he can provide short of these medicated elastic stretchy patches, each are about the size of a slice of bread. I'm wearing four per 24 hours. Was hoping to start swimming in a couple of weeks.

Cheers WN, is it a prescribed medicine? May not have it here.

I have to go back in a week to work out a 'rehabilli' plan. I will ask about it. Also, Lifty's, I mean Hunt's shoulderhorn. I checked it out on Youtube and it looks the goods.

So much surf here ATM, pretty depressing actually:)

Swimming! Ha, ha, ha, yeh, right, hilarious shit, now I know that you are joking zennsored! I mean what could possibly be worse eh! Nice one... that's got swillnut written all over it! Perhaps with a nice fruity flavor too!

Anyway, speaking of nice, and chopes etc, nice Laird interview goofoiled eh! Nice how he highlighted that anything that strengthens, is totally transferable to anything else! Like basketball, surfing, like motorsports too! Anything! Pretty obvious, but nice one all the same Laird! Lots of other nice stuff too, focusing on one surf spot, yeh deluxe clip goofoiler! Nice bummer about once a brokeback chicken always a brokeback chicken but. Them's the breaks, so to speak! Could have done with a bit of nice gibberish and whinging about somaloids and other useless shit, and all the opposite to what he was saying, that is, a bit of nice added, nice swillnut, fruity flavour aye! I don't know what mellon was thinking leaving it out!

Brace (full body) yourself, but you have to get the shoulderhorn from the US zenned.

Anyway, nice swimming idea zennsless, that quick swimming rehab. Putting it as nicely as possible, its the most fucking hilarious , ridiculous, ludicrous, stu...

Oops Sorry... in a nice way too aye!

This is the one. I'm so fucking nice! You just be zensible. Swimming?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/STI-SHOULDER-HORN-Rotator-Cuff-Training-Rehab-De...

That's one part covered. But you need expertise in its use, re range, procedure when injured.

When you are rehabbing the actual delt, you have to be able to control range of motion, force, time under tension, reps, sets etc, etc. Without being present, its difficult to address this, in a way that promotes healing, and won't cause scarring. You need someone with the experience, and an arsenal of techniques/exercises to select the right starting point for your particular scenario. And the right progression to return to pain free full range, and stronger than prior to injury. Which is totally possible. With the right protocol, the ribs will simultaneously get a chance to heal. Then start swimming.

You have to be patient.

I'm so fucking nice! But, I did 8 PT's today, 5 rehab, and over it.

Thanks for that. Found one on Rakuten the same night you mentioned it.

I have an appointment with good sports doc later this week. I'll wait to see what he says.

Hard to be patient when you see how good the surf has been here recently, but will do.

Don't let him dribble to you to use the useless fucking thewabanths. They love the useless fucking things. If they mention them, run, don't walk from the sickening venue. Otherwise, there is the danger, the very real danger, that this will become... dare I say it... of course... yet another 'expert', 'specialiast', 'fixed'/but not factually 'fixed' (unless its under 50 kgs or inches), foamball/highchair/coulda gorn, 'cept I'll charge too farkin' hard aye mmmaaaayyytee, saga.

And please don't wrap yourself in the giant bandaid, whilst sublingually slurping on whingy's 'magic' pills. Its not a good look. Its got swillnut written all over it.

Will this be the next epic, swillnut, fruity saga, Volume 689,078,642, Chapter 641, 807, 478...

'The Floater That Got Flushed' by the Yappamoto Flats Shorey.

'and my wife came home from work and took me to emergency.'

And please don't fucking mention that ever again. Or the fucking fainting. Even here, in the swillnut club, its sickening... the hardcore levels that the modern 'surfee' will stuup to. And perhaps even worse, don't call all the magazines and TV stations if you forget to put your leggy on, or see a fish. Sickening.

Its not real blax. Not even remotely close.
