Queensland Surftag Goes For Its Guns
With the formation of Tropical Cyclone Vania yesterday every surfer in Queensland is casting a weather eye on its development and track through the Coral Sea. None moreso than Steve Harrison, organiser of the Jim Beam Global Surftag series.
Harro is running the final of the Queensland Surftag series this Saturday with Duranbah being the proposed venue. However, the swell from TC Vania - predicted to be 6ft+ with south to south-east winds on Saturday – will likely cause a change of venue.
Competitors will meet at the same place but if conditions arise as forecast the final will be held on the Coolangatta stretch of the Superbank. If you are competing on Saturday you'd be advised to pack your paddling arms and any other equipment you think necessary (you can leave the jet ski in the garage).
Keep an eye on the Swellnet Coolangatta forecast (note: Steve Shearer will have another written update on Friday afternoon) and good luck.
