From end to end...

Beginning in April, and continuing for six months, Jim Banks – Indo veteran and barrel-rider extraordinaire - will be traveling the whole southern coastline of Indonesia, from Aceh in the north-west to Timor in the east. He's not sailing solo though, Jim has split the trip up into twelve sections and beds on the boat are available for each leg.

The boat he has chartered is the 74 foot Lambo, constructed in Sulawesi by traditional boat builders. It's a luxurious wooden boat with open decks, spacious rooms, and lots of beautiful exposed timber. A small concession to modernity is the 190 hp engine powering it.

I spoke to Jim recently and he's adamant that there many more waves to be found in Indonesia. Travelling surfers, he says, concentrate in certain areas yet swell hits every exposed coast. All you need is the means, the time and the knowledge to find them. Jim now has all three.
