Watch: Dylan Graves // Shinko, Japan
Ditching his Weird Waves franchise for a moment, Dylan Graves returns to putting unique surf scenes under the microscope. When he calls Shinko, Japan, a "sci-fi looking surf scene" this Wollongong surfer struggles to see the fiction.
Still, Shinko is a curious little crossroads, largely due to the way swells interact with the bathy, throwing up D'bah-style peaks up and down the beach.
Between ramen and session at Shinko, Dylan lifts the lid on a peculiar surf scene - though in some ways it's also very familiar.

Apres surf is quite a few levels above what I am acquainted with. Very Japanese.
Great spot. Wedges all along the beach.
Loved that video, and the scene there. I could post up all day in my old orange and brown beach chair, with coffee, whisk and clove ciggies.
Saiko desu!
Just watched this lastnight, good watch
Reminded me of Crescent Head carpark!
Fun looking surf, wonder if much localism, wouldn’t think so as long as manners are brought.
Loved it, refreshing level of stoke. No disrespect, looked like they were all discovering surfing. Mind you, have had one of those ‘mystery’ food bowls, could not finish it…..
That was an excellent film and I hope everyone hits the subscribe button to help this guy to keep travelling and sharing.
Agree, Dylan keeps it respectful and fun without ego and no merch.
Last time I went past that coastline was a few months after the Tohoku earthquake and Tsunami in 2011 where it was pretty well ground zero so its amazing to see how well the area has rebounded.
sweet vid, waves look great ,
It’s a fun wave, I surfed it a few times when I lived above and inland from Sendai. Tohoku is an amazing part of Japan.
