Watch: Jacob Turner // Teahupoo
Just sixteen-years old, only his second visit to Teahupoo - his first was two weeks earlier - and Jacob Turner does this..?
“These last few weeks is the first time I’ve ever heard of Jacob,” Tim McKenna told Stab. “I’ve never seen a kid his age so dominant out there — he’s confident, crazy, and really good.
“He’s been the talk of the town for the last couple of weeks for sure. Everybody’s tripping. To come straight off the plane for his first time here and surf like that — I’ve never seen that before."
This is the last of three videos Tim shot during Tahiti's last run of swell.

Wow! What a show of domination and only 16! Crazy.
Gold medal effort.
No Irukanji in the line up..??
I think in the first vid Tim dropped and Jacob was owning it. I had never heard of him before and he was the standout.
16 years old? Obviously the self-preservation instinct hasn't kicked in yet.
Kid has some barrel knowledge! Wheres he from?
Kauai.
That explains it.
Yep...reminds me of myself at 16......
....NOT!
He's got those arm-stalls wired. Incredible surfing!
Hard to understand how he can be that good already. But there it is.
He has perfected the pin drop
Crazy surfing
He's a good kid, watched him come up at home these last few years - charges and super respectful.
That was epic. His positioning and timing was impeccable. Good effort by Tim at interviewing too.
I did it so much more fascinating watching people paddle in.
As soon as the cartoonish tow swells come it all kind of looks the same to me. Like the kid said, it’s easier so I have less respect for it.
But I could watch his pin drops for hours.
Care with mixing Tims. Tim McKenna is the still photographer and a fine photog at that.
I don't know how strong a relationship Jacob has with God . But either he is guiding him or someone has imparted some serious local knowledge onto him . Its a unique lineup and on only Second trip and his positioning was impeccable . Looked like he had grown up there , thats how insync he looked . Kudos young man .
Insane surfing! That wave is nxt. level as is the surfing from those that have managed the fight or flight response to their advantage. The young bloke is punching way above his weight & pulling it off! GR8 images from the 2 Tim's too!
He loves God and fits very nicely into creation….he will go far….good for him.
He got more waves out there than i did in my last 3 foot session at the local.
I wouldn't lend him a board though!!
Only took him a couple of mind-bending tubes to dial in that green board.
Kid's a beast.
Understandably everyone is talking about Jacob, but Shane Dorian's vertical drop at the 6 minute mark was incredible! The guy's still got it!
Equipment makes a surfer's confidence turn into consistent performances.
To whomever made that board -rocker is perfect for the wave. Good work keeping your surfer safe and sturdy.
