Watch: The Best Of Autumn // Gold Coast
Thought it didn't reach any great heights, no late-season cyclones to speak of, nor wandering ECLs, the Gold Coast fared much better than any other region of the eastern seaboard during the season just passed.
A steady diet of easterly trade-swell kept the points ticking over, the sand in good order, and the punters amused.
In fact, the same swell regime continued into winter with excellent mid-range point surf on offer earlier this week.
As always, Craig Halstead shot any swell of significance that struck the southern end of the Goldy. Here's his best of autumn compilation.

Such a great start to the year, especially if you're not chasing 6-8' slabs. I wonder if anywhere in the country has been as consistently good as the Cooly points so far this year.
Geez, it looks good.
D-Bah is just a goldmine.
To me, this autumn has lacked some significant swells but a lot of people I'm talking to are really rating it.
D bah always looks so fun , anyone here surf it ? easy to get waves out there? even when its crowded as theres peaks everywhere or not quite?
easy to get waves generally; super fun though that looked exceptional
There's been a consistent run of swell ...beachies and points have good sand..
lots of takers in the water...the search is always on
Anything with a bit of size gets packed, but as it drops off a bit a lot of the crowd disappears, sometimes down to zero down the line
A bit of volume helps because it’s still fast and shallow, maybe why the crowds drop off.
For the average punter this is heaven.
Perfect number of lefts.
