Watch: Riley Edwards // May Waves
East Coast videographer Riley Edwards sent this clip, describing it as "a new surf edit with some B-clips all shot through the month of May around home."
"Normally most of these clips would just sit on my hard drive," continued Riley. "This clip features a mix of makes, wipeouts, and closeouts of all the regulars at home giving it a go. We had a pretty darn good month of waves and definetly shot a fair few keeper waves that I'll hold off from showing until my end of year reel."
You recall Riley's 2022 end of year reel? Chicken skin from go to whoa...

is that headland in the background of the right somewhere north of Coffs?
Somewhere on the East Coast, JS.
thanks Stu, that narrows it considerably.
I remember years ago SW ran a wave of the day titled "Somewhere north of Coffs" and from memory that looks like it.
Regardless... discretion is the better part of valour isn't it
Although I'm sure you mean no harm and it got me curious too.
And well played stunet
great saying: discretion is the better part of valour ... I hadn't heard it before, thanks.
I was hoping that "somewhere north of Coffs" was discretionary enough.

Fair call, thanks for deleting.
And parallel to 'the code' that guides this thread, also runs a more authoritative view: that of the sovereign views whose iterations propound the law of the 'land and sea Country' on which the video is set.
In respect to their Country: I Acknowledge their Country. I Acknowledge their Elders past and present. I Acknowledge that they never ceded their sovereignty, as well as the ongoing trajectory of the Crown - which is the source of ongoing harm.
This is not to discount the basis for which my comment was delete - as someone who appreciates 'the code' I agree that that was the correct response. Thank you Stu. My intention here is to acknowledge the context in which the code sit within, and that is, it is subordinate to - not necessarily aligned or misaligned to - whose ever Country it is being applied. And also to take responsibility and hopefully make good.
In summary: a perceivable breach of the code, including the code itself - as well as all non-First Nations claims to localism- in my view, benefits from also acknowledging the sovereign reality in which it sits: the reality of the illegal occupation of sovereign lands by the Crown.
I would add, that the source of 'the code' on which the removal of my comment was correctly based, is not a source which emanates completely from the Crown, though is probably substantially an extension of the Crown. Nethertheless, in some ways the code could be viewed to seek to override the Crowns' dominion, for example when "locals" bash a blowin.
Constitutional recognition via the Voice is the recognition by the Crown on the basis of the expressed will of the body politic- via the referendum. What is the Crown recognising? That First Nations sovereignty **pre-dates the sovereignty of the Crown. Which is probably why white supremacists, consciously or otherwise, hate the idea- as its an attack to their perceived supremacy.
Sincerely, my apologies for my lack of discretion, and thank you again Stu for removing it.
**Mabo 2 severed the legal limb of the Crowns soveriengty by propounding that terra nullis was a lie. When the High Court did that, it severed the legal limb of the Crowns sovereignty, however obviously the consent of, and the aquiessence by, the people to the dominion of the Crown supports the current political limb of Crown's sovereignty. Again noting it's legal limb was severed.
Cool vid, and the tune brings back fond memories as well.
Thanks mate! I grew up listening to the cure from my old man. Still may favourite band to this day
+1.
Loved the track. Great vid.
Why not? Great B reel, and jeez Riley edits well, embracing the music, mixing it up, but not overdoing it. Same with the 22 Pumpkin edit. Feels like you are there having a crack. Love his mix of unridden mind-surfers, close-outs, long/short shots, speeds etc. Holding off on doing smash-edits over the Cure's triplets until the very end was genius, doing it earlier in the song (at 1:00) would have stalled the overall momentum of the clip. Master class in how to treat a B reel like an A reel.
Thanks for the kind words, really appreciate it!
More tubes than you could poke a stick at.
Good to see the old boys having a crack.
Gee wizz that's the B-side? Very entertaining
Jack Thompson getting barreled at 0.15
B side to waitin on a girl Saturday night, couldve been going to church ....
many moons later...
I fully nearly used Holy Hour instead. Tho might hold off using it for the end of year real. Love that song!
Riley you have a great sense of timing; tight shots & edits, different angles and old school music.
Thanks for showing us your talent & efforts!
Hope you scored some great May waves too
Up tempo flows with action.... also keeps peoples attention
Some solid tube riding there
I got a couple of the b clips!
