why are (most) of these guys so styley?
Is there a Burleigh Style?
BalberoFriday, 1 Jul 2022 at 6:17pm
That has got to be the worst surfing edit I've ever seen at Burleigh. sad state of affairs there if these below average kooks are getting screen time.

Should go into the ‘Just Kook It’ film collection, be right at home.

in this day and age, our phones and computers are so flooded with high level clips of the best surfers shredding. i've seen so much similar content that its boring now unless someone does something truly exceptional. the irony of having so much amazing content available for free is that it no longer appeals like it used to. we have been spoilt. living on the goldy its even worse because every time i go for a surf there are world class pros doing it live in front of me. so long as the waves are good, its refreshing, and more enjoyable for me to see average joes getting amongst it because i can relate. unfortunately this day was a bit fast and clampy
I wasn't aware of this but its not an unexpected request in this day and age.
Cant say I object, although the situation isn't what the quoted local indigenous lady suggests as it wasn't named after a person, so it not a typical situation where you're removing the name of an early explorer.

Still an Anglo name…
The ancestry of the name Burleigh dates from the ancient Anglo-Saxon culture of Britain. It comes from when the family lived in the fort by the wood having derived from the Old English burhleah.
SmortoMonday, 4 Jul 2022 at 5:14pm
Haha ok nice google of Burleigh! Not sure why you quoted that but thanks.
I thought that it was first named of Burly Head (because it was big and burly compared to Little Nobby Head) but that sounded too obvious/informal so they changed it to Burleigh. Sure its anglo, but its not named after anyone.

Prawns live in the sea.

Not bad not bad, they usually swim with the current, not against it, arms too small
RoadkillFriday, 1 Jul 2022 at 7:24pm
I surf like the first guy mostly with a bit of below average kook thrown in.
burleigh, still pretending he is a surfer and not just a covidiot is pretty funny.

Wow, pretty sure most of the guys on this Vid had a great surf and are pretty excited to see themselves on Swellnet, keep ya negative comments to ya selves, ya shredding heroes. Isn't surfing suppose to be a personal enjoyable experience,. Who cares how good you look, you bunch of tossers.

Yeah mate welcome to the Swellnet comments section hahahaha where you will find a regular bunch of has-been flogs calling everyone a kook, my old man would say 'whos the pot calling the kettle black'. They also like to paraphrase the BOM website for effect as well, you should log into those forums for a right laugh!

Closest i've seen Kirra looking like Kirra in over 20 years. So sick. Lucky buggers who are getting amongst it.

10/10 finnbob. who cares what it looks like from the beach or the lounge chair. Those guys are having a dig.
groundswellSaturday, 2 Jul 2022 at 1:04am
I dont know what some of you with complaints are on about the only thing wrong with this besides them not being challenger series qualifiers was the waves just weren't that hollow compared to kirra and other waves on the south coast nsw and also more unpredictable, making the tubes harder to pull into and get slotted and positioning/speed transitions more difficult. They weren't kooks in my book just out of position a few times. which is easy to see why.the waves weren't all time in my book.
Surfalot67Saturday, 2 Jul 2022 at 9:19am
Some nice sections but Burlz is nothing like it used to be. Banks are too straight and sectiony, Tappa got the longest one that was like one tenth of a Kirra or Greeny wave. The drone shows the whole story, the bank is a straight line to surfers, no longer wrapping around the point.
SpatchcockSaturday, 2 Jul 2022 at 10:30am
Swell was really straight this day, most of the waves too fast. Lots of potential but no cigars
SeaweedSaturday, 2 Jul 2022 at 8:33pm
To the surfer at 5.50 I gotta say great ride and I love your work..
Surfalot67Monday, 4 Jul 2022 at 12:52pm
Looks like Tappa

He he he, I Love the banter. I personally find it refreshing to see an unedited clip of (mostly) average Joe; wipe outs, makes and possibly the wave of the day (or life) for some.
It looked like tricky Burleigh, where local knowledge of the break was required. Recognized a few local faces.
I had a good surf elsewhere that day, 1st after 2 weeks of covid.
Have appreciation of the simple joy of surfing, cause you miss it when you cant.
