Watch: Swell chasing with Tim Bonython
The latest instalment of Tim Bonython's never-ending swell chase took place a few weeks back. It's a simple premise: Tim on the ski, a bunch of locals, including evergreen Chris Homer who takes a handful of brutal beatdowns, and a pitching, slightly wind-affected slab.

More decapitations than the French Revolution.
Sorry Tim but this place isn’t a secret these days, was Surfing out there when I was a teen.
Yep even 15yrs ago when I surfed it whenever it was good 5 of us max ona. Good day these days 30 or more on a shit day .
Great stuff Tim, great to see local guys, surfing their local
Not many locals . Would’ve been about 5 max rest are blowins . I’m a local and didn’t even bother surfing it coz it wasnt the best shape . These days everyone with a ski is out when there’s waves out there . A true local will paddle the channel .
sick footage timmy of some nice nugs
Surprised not to see Stu out there
I wonder what was chasing all the fish the birds were going for in around them?
turn the slo mo off please
Chris Homer's drop at 4:40 has still got me cringing. Good effort. Then followed by a similar drop and "maybe going straight is an option on this wave"; awesome.
Ignacio - Most Improved but everyone gets a prize for having a crack.
Best Feel Good Friday vid, thanks Tim.
Should've paddled it Robbo's
How's the two fish splashing around in the wave from 4:46
Not many locals
. Mostly blowins . I’m a local and didn’t even surf it becouse of the amount of kook blowins and it wasn’t even the best shape .
I told Tim what I Thaught of him coming down and filming it . So many years without a sole out now it’s full packed even on shit days . He blocked me on insta . These days can’t get a good surf out there without many blowins thinking that own the place .
I use to surf it 30 plus years ago, strictly low tide-south swell west wind! Now guys surf it any tide any swell any wind & the closest local is from Helensburgh???? Go figure!!
Not quite Helensburgh. I’m a local n grew up in the suburb it breaks . But I’m sick of all these blow ins thinking Thay are locals . To bonython is a fuckwit and ain’t ever welcome back if he does come back shit will hit the fan
fightin wordz
Told Tim what I Thaught and he blocked me on insta . I use to surf it with Ed Jacko n the boys for 15yrs before anyone went out these days it’s just a shit fight of blowins
Ironic that the one true local in these comments is the one name dropping the location of the break.
RE the Chris Homer waves in the vid above.
Tomorrow night, the surfshop downstairs is hosting a Q&A with local surf photographer Mick McCormack. Mick hasn't shot for a while, and in fact his photography career only lasted five years or so, but he made a hell of a mark. He mainly shot Aussie Pipe, 'Razors', and Hawaiian Pipeline, and always from very deep. No lifestyle or landscape shots from Mick, he was always tight in the barrel, sometimes even deeper than the surfer - a famous shot of his had the surfer in the barrel looking back at Mick.
I've been whacking together some photocopies from old mags, and came across this fish eye Mick took of Chris Homer. I'm not sure how old Chris is now, but this photo was taken 37 years ago.
