Watch: Von Froth // The Death Coast

The second installment of Nic von Rupp's 'Von Froth' series follows the trend towards the expended play clip. A bit of dialogue and character development between the obilgatory big wave crescendos pushed the running time into the teens and beyond.

NvR has the charm to carry his part, make it worthwhile sitting through the dry times, but the same can't always be said of others in the viewfinder.

Small criticisms. The surfing outweighs the petty grumbling.

A mate used to be right into a bit of big wave tow surfing when it first came about. He reckons that him and his mates would watch the Laird Hamilton movie “ Strapped “ and afternoon a while they realised that the surfing was just the backdrop and that the movie is actually a latent- homosexual love story.

I’ve still never seen the movie but I found this remark has stayed with me for some reason. Perhaps because I found the notion of them pissing themselves watching Laird and co struggling with their repressed sexuality hilarious.

Not sure if that’s relevant to Von Rupp and his posse but there you go.

No doubt solid surfers but the clip did little for me.
