Flights to Padang
Are you flying into Jakarta or Bali?
Use a travel agent there booking fee is fuckall compared to the headache of doing it yourself
10 blokes ...20 plus boards ? could be a drama on the smaller planes.
Most guys go via kuala lumpur Air Asia normally have really good deals.
I could be wrong but don't think there is any airlines currently running between Singapore and Padang.
Flights to Jakarta are rarely cheap, flights and sales to Bali are generally pretty cheap but it adds at least one more flight each way
I just let my missus do it all but i think she uses https://www.tiket2.com/en
BTW. You can also book decent prices accommodation at the airport online if you need a stop over in KL, or if have more time KL is worth two to three day stay, its kind of like a poor mans Singapore, quite a few things to do and see and some real good food. IMO Bukit Bintang is the area to stay Jalan Alor has an amazing street food at night.
ID on the ball
No direct flights Singapore to Padang
KL. yes and easy and cheap
Good info ID but one thing ive been worried about is on a one visit single entry social visa(indonesian), will going to KL or sing sing cancel the visa? because they arent easy to get in the firstplace and organising a new one might be difficult in KL.
Not that that matters to original poster as hes probably on a tourist visa.
might not apply in this case..one other way to Padang IF(and only if) your a) getting super cheap flight Scoot to Singapore from Oz, or b) you can't for some reason, get a KL flight. you could catch a batam fast ferry from harborfront in Singapore across to Batam for about $25 - 45 mins. You enter Indo there and get your free 30 day VOA..then take a Lionair or Citlink domestic to Padang from Hang Nadim airport - multiple/almost hourly flights between Padang and Batam. About the only reason you would do this is if you wanted a raucous boys night out at the end of the trip at Kampung Bule in Nagoya..although that can be done in KL as well ..downside is you have the hassle of flight-taxi-ferry-taxi-flight. boards not a problem on larger Indo carriers..although 10 at once could be..they rarely see boards at Hang nadim and don't generally charge extra for them.
@Groundswell - Not sure if I understand correctly what your saying. If your talking about having arranged a sosbud or similar in Australia, before entering Indo..then it only gets activated once you enter indo.. most of those Indo visa have a 2 month expirary before you have to use them. you can can go to any other country with an un-used Indo visa in your passport..no problems. If you don't use it in the 2 months after its issued..then its gone...hope that helps
Thanks dogbox its just a shame you can only enter indo once, since its a bit of a mission to organise a social visa in the first place if you're working every day in oz.
If you're in indo and decide to go to the ments, through kl your visa is cancelled which sucks.
If you have to get from Singapore {usually because of a cheap flight} to KL take a 1st class coach for around SGD 40, large luxury seating and airline style entertainment etc, relaxing 5hr trip thru the palm farms. Or you can get a standard coach for around SGD20.
Interested to hear you opinions on flights to Padang airport for boat charter. Have booked independent boat and whether it's best to use travel agent for flights or go it alone? Flying from Brisbane... and trying to coordinate 10 blokes!!
