Murder of Bali police man.
No eyewitnesses and no known motive to murder the police officer it seems very strange.
What happens in Bali stays in Bali, sounds like they will too.
Sara Conner says "Bad Cop" ABCnews
I don't think the Terminator is going to be able to save her this time.
Thought I heard she claimed she was being sexually assaulted. ??
yep, before too drunk to remember, now boyfriend says he'll tell 'the whole truth'
one report said cop jumped on her, and a group helped her, one charge group violence
'boyfriend' is a DJ, hate to generalise but dreadlocked DJ dude....
Heavy situation. I get the feeling this is going to take a long time to be resolved through the Indonesian legal system.
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-08-23/british-man-admits-hitting-bali-of...
ID, taking your suggestion further, would you suggest that the bloke should not only cut his hair and take up Islam (with a passion) but go further and say that it was his infidel thoughts that caused his night of crime !
To my knowledge the cop was Hindu, and the alleged crime was committed on a majority (90%) Hindu Island, albeit in a majority Islamic country.
How much is religion bought into context in this situation in the courts?
look at the Michelle Leslie case, ecstasy pills on the hindu island, converted to Islam, wore headscarf to court, played the pious game in jail. was very respectful (ie didn't carry on like the corbys) got a light sentence and was back in oz pretty much straight after sentencing (and was very very quiet back in oz I might add)
it probably depends a lot where the key judges are from, often they'll be a mix with Javanese, but following any religion, and appearing respectful of any religion goes a long long way in indo. boozy arrogant ozzies and/or poms don't portray well in the islands
you're probably taking it a step too far tonybarber, but the other stuff certainly wouldn't hurt. he could probably keep the dreads and do the rest rather than just cut the dreads, indos seem to like dreads, but loose the byron beach party look
Same time as Leslie, remember Graham Payne? Got caught with meth, smack, other assorted goodies. Got same jail-time or thereabouts.
$ talks.
Especially in the cases that never make the "news".
Let it do the talking.
So Taylor has confessed to assaulting the policeman what is more astounding it that
"Mr Haposan said on Friday Ms Connor received a phone call from a friend in Australia, who said there was a problem.
He said they then both took a scooter somewhere in Jimbaran to burn the clothes they had been wearing on the night of the murder.
They then went to the Australian Consulate in Bali where they were apprehended by police.".
Why would an innocent person try to conceal evidence?
Where does the actions after the altercation leave Sarah Connor despite the confession? I doubt the actions after the altercation would be seen favourably by indonesian law enforcement Ms Connor should be trying to distancing herself from her DJ boyfriend as much as possible.
Bali Bollocks has a good piece on M leslie
The Dood must of been charging hard on drugs or is a very mad and angry DJ. Even if the cop was a "bad cop" it seems a very niave & major overreaction.
exactly what I thought rabbitas, probably on 3 day bender, total over reaction, ya see some loose units in bali these days...again
it seemed to settle after that brazilnut took someone out a few years ago, dawn patrolling the streets on mushys and ephys, things changed, tightened up a bit, all went a bit quiet, but things seemed to be getting loose again
'Justice' has just gone up on sportsbet as a 100-1 outsider!
It awaits.
This is strange. Any chance that there is an unknown party involved? Unless Taylor and Connor don't have a brain between them there is too much that just doesn't make any sensel.
a lot of people don't think clearly under pressure
Thats true pointy not trying to speculate.
"Denpasar police chief Hadi Purnomo said Ms Connor had taken Mr Sudarsa's wallet and phone after he was bashed on the beach, cut up his cards and threw them away.
"It was Sara who cut [them] up. The intention was to get rid of evidence," he said."
Did Sara Conner confess to this? The cut up cards seems a little convenient to prosecutors surely theres not some sort of fix on.
Guilty or not these 2 individuals will spend time in prison, the Indonesians will fabricate the case to suit themselves
How can you try and prove anything with the body already cremated
There police over there are very corrupt and always have been
Not like our cops......
There is no way on Earth that bloke could be guilty of bashing that cop to death.
He's from Byron , he's got dreads and he's a DJ.
He's basically a spiritual envoy from Nirvana send to atone for Australia's bogan sins.
And all this straight from Blightey ! Eh Guvvna Geeza.
He pretty much encompasses what Byron represents to me these days .
The old town won't be the same without him?
Seems to be a fair amount of sympathy and compassion out there in portions of the Oz community for this pair.
Imagine an Indonesian DJ holidaying on the Goldy with his Malaysian girlfriend. Gets on the glass barbie, has a lapse of judgement and bashes an Aussie cop on the beach.
Oh the sympathy they would receive.
LD, I think it's just because they're "Aussies" in trouble in Bali.
And if the shoe was on the other foot, as the example given above, the Indo DJ would have been tasered, pepper sprayed and probably shot. If he survived that, he would also have been bashed (I mean tripped and fell over) within an inch of his life in the watch house.
Just reading a summary on the crime scene and the state of the police officer and I beg to ask the question
Why was his shirt all undone when found ?
Why did he have binoculars whilst doing his shift from 8.30 pm to 8.00 am , were they night vision goggles ?
How did the lady come to have the policemans bite mark on her leg and hand?
These guys have been set up and the Australian and UK officials need to step in and supply good legal representation for the both of them
Pretty sure she's from Italy and he's a Pom .
Both Byron locals now.
Assuming they've done the two week probationary period that extends from first setting foot in the town till assuming full blown local status, of course.
TTL scale ( Time Till Local ) :
1 Week - Manly
2 Weeks - Bondi
1 Month - Changgu, Bali
1 Year - Crescent Head
5 Years - Snapper Rocks
10 Years - Margaret River
30+ Years - Kalbarri
Jeez those dreads are gonna fester in Kerobokan

Sorry to be offtopic but whats the TTL for Angourie?
Datasha - It'd be up there.
You'd be looking at solid PL (Pseudo Local ) at minimum 15 years and therefore able to lord over true tourists , yet not able to outrank blowins with RLTV status ( Recognised Long Term Visitor ) such as old mate that's been surfing the point on and off since the seventies / eighties.
And you'll still get withering looks from true locals.
I'd say 30 + years for Angas till unarguable local status.
Maybe 40 years to err on the side of caution.
Same as Kalbarri I'd assume. Could possibly be 40 though.
Sounds like you'll have to wait a little longer, dats.
Blowin the whole TTL scale warrants a thread of its own. At localities with a longer TTL do those who have served their time mutually masturbate about how they are locals thinking they have some divine right to more waves than others?
Also do these true locals ever travel for waves?
Blowin have to add a lot of the true locals are slowly being squeezed out of the property market by wealthy holiday makers taking up the prime land.
Looks like the DJ aint gonna go down alone and try spare his girl.
http://www.news.com.au/world/asia/sara-connor-breaks-down-as-david-taylo...
True locals are known to travel often, as they're usually core surfers by default having grown up knowing no way but to surf relentlessly.
Travelling True locals often don't have a problem getting waves off resident true locals at places they visit due to the Reciprocated Respect accord whereby the touring local will casually mention his home break and how it mirrors the visited wave in status. thereby implying that any easement of the pecking order will be returned in full should the resident local ever visit the tourists home break.
Pseudo Locals have been known to practice scowling in the mirror and reciting lines from the taxi driver in the vain attempt to project the authority of the true local.
Alas, it will never be and will only earn them derision in the car park from the life members.
For better or worse, Surf localism is as much the game of snakes and ladders as the rest of life.
It's not written in stone that you will dominate the same turf as your old man.
Barrister Peter Strain helping Connor...one of the best.
Only a matter of time before they turned on each other, how's the last pic on that link of Ldoggy's, that bloke has a look like Charles Manson.
Wonder if it's the first time he's killed?
"The old town won't be the same with out him?"
Ha hahahahahah Blowin that's gold
And if I'm not mistaken, is that the ugly Spector of 3/4 Fishermans pants poking it's head from the hem of his orange onesy?
I reckon the cops got him just in time.
Another week on Kuta beach and he would have been fire twirling at sunset.
Oh , the humanity.
You beat me to it Blowy you bastard. I was going to write that the prosecutors never explored the angle that the cop beat himself to death having to listen to them spin tales of life on the Ashram, tripping by moonlight in Goa, then finishing off with 4 hours of fire twirling.
Don't know if anyone has been following this story, but I've got a feeling its going to be another case where we may never find out the truth but everyone will have an opinion.
All seems very fishy.
One minute the media reports she is to drunk to remember, next minute she had only a few beers.
Self defence?....more than 40 wounds? Drugs involved in some way? who knows?
