Derek Hynd
Dave Scard

Tim Winton
Tony Abbott
Andrew Kidman
Simon Anderson
Garth Dickenson
Joel Parkinson
The more I think about it, the more I realize that every surfer could end up being the most interesting. Sit them down, for hours if need be, until their relationship with surfing comes clear. Some in that list are already proven to be able to communicate what surfing means to them, what it makes the feel, really well. Abbott, well I'd love to know if he finds solace in the sea. If during the turmoil of the last year if he ever just drove down and sat in his car watching inside runners on a sandbank at Bondi, or if you're able to forget such things as being the leader of Australia while you're riding wave.
From the forum:
IndoDreaming. I'd love to know more about this bloke .... and a detailed map of where you've been surfing for the last 20 years too if you don't mind.
Midget
Bill Finnegan
Slater
Jack McCoy... As starters.
Add the Witzig brothers.
Moose from cactus dig to hear his life story
John Peck, Bob Cooper, Peter Troy, Gerry Lopez, Bob McTavish, Skip Fry, Derek Hynd, George Greenough, Dave Parameter, Pat and Tom Curran, Jeff Clark, Steve Pezman, Doc Paskowitz, Greg Noll, Simon Anderson, Mark Richards, Shaun Tomson and MP to name just of the few ........

Ha ha thanks Dan, but you will only be disappointed, just an average guy, average surfer who loves Indo, sorry no maps.
Agree the most interesting surfers are often just average guys, a few years back i was surfing this remote wave with a mate and out of nowhere turns up this old bloke with some Indonesians he had known forever, he had quite a few yarns to tell about how he use to surf this wave in the late 70,s early 80's which is long before you would have expected it to had been surfed, i don't know if he was telling the truth but it sure seemed that way.

Certainly a fair question!
None of the big names intrigue me too much. Blokes who have sacrificed money, family lives/women, material assets etc to pursuit a life surfing. Every local area would have blokes who have barely worked a day in their lives drive a shitbox car manage to survive off the dole just to surf and travel to surf.
"blokes who have barely worked a day in their lives drive a shitbox car manage to survive off the dole just to surf and travel to surf."
What a legend Wharfie!
That's the way champ, hope you're proud of that .....
I'll give you my tax if you could stack my firewood for me, one afternoon?
I'll pay ya.

Interesting sure it is intriguing i'm not so sure unless theres something out of the ordinary in one of Slaters conquests. Ol mate Dole Bludger down the road may not have slayed any models but the some of the shit he has got up to would be intriguing.

Surfing World just published their "50 Most Intriguing People in Surfing Today" in issue #374 ...some surprising entries!
I was expecting to find a popularity poll on the WSL gym jocks, but was pleasantly surprised to see a grinning caricature of George Greenough high up the ranks! I Some entries were less inspiring, I mean... how the hell does "Kookslams" even qualify as a 'person'? It's pretty much just funniest home videos for grommies right?
Has anyone else read the article? Who did you want to see in there?
My vote goes to Buttons, as intriguing now as he ever was.
Anyone else wanna add to the list?
