Okay this is rap/hip hop but really this is more punk than anything out there today, he releases all his own stuff so fully independent has the most in your face controversial song lyrics but somehow has blown up this video 5 days old with almost 6 million views and apparently trending at number 4 on YouTube and number 1 on iTunes (didn't even know it still existed)
Its weird that he isn't being cancelled, and just as surprising judging by the large number of positive reaction videos from black folk he seems to have a lot of support there.
Anyway i do like a little bit of hip hop especially old school stuff, and he is pretty clever with his lyrics, but a tad cheesy for me, but still cool to see the push back against wokeness and boundary being pushed.
BTW. Thats Blaire white, famous trans conservative chick.
What do you think is "controversial" about this really terrible song? Which boundaries do you think are being pushed? You can hear all this crap being parroted by shock jocks and right wing news outlets everywhere. I just see a guy with terrible flow (i.e, can't rap) spewing out tropes that will get redneck America onside so he can become youtube famous.
"Its weird that he isn't being cancelled" lol
"A tad cheesy" for you indo? I know your taste in music. I've seen what you like, not just here, but on Sound As Ever. Most of it is great music made by people that you would describe as "woke". (Who TF uses that word unironically anyway?) You wouldn't give this shite the time of day if you didn't get a little bigot boner over the lyrics. Embarrassing.
Who exactly is it that you think Indo is bigoted against? I’ve never heard him say a bad word about anyone based purely on race, religion gender or sexual orientation . If you have I’d like to hear it. Or is it just more about the vibe of the thing? You know, calling someone a bigot gives you that sanctimony boner which gets you out of bed in the morning. I’ve read Indo’s comments for years and he’s never come across as hateful or inhumane. Maybe it’s time to shut your lips with your false accusations.
Me too. As I've said before, I don't think Indo has a hateful bone in his body. let alone a bigoted-boner.
Unlike some others though...

Just because i posted it here doesn't mean im a fan, i posted it because ive seen it pop up around the place and then listened to it and realised how big its gone so shared here to tie in with previous discussion and as a good discussion point.
I do like a bit of hip hop/rap as after my Kiss phase as a kid rap/hip hop was big and i guess bands like Run DMC, Beastie boys, Public enemy, Ice T were kind of an introduction to more indie/alternative type stuff and occasionally i will listen to a bit again, but 90% of rap/hip hop to me is cheesy and kind of tacky, just the lyrics and whole, im the man and romanticisation of gang, drugs, street violence, im a bad arse dude etc a lot of it is also misogynistic, the whole she's my bitch thing.
Why do i think it is controversial? well here's the lyrics
He is pretty much calling out anything and everything that is woke these days, people get cancelled on youtube or social media these days for far far far less.
"If you lie to the government they'll put you in prison
But when they lie to all of us it's called being a politician
You think taking guns away will save our kids from the killings
But your pro-choice abortion kills way more children
If America's so terrible and racist
It probably isn't safe to encourage immigration, just saying
All the contradictions are embarrassing
You know who hates America the most? Americans
Trigger warnings used to be on TV for seizures
And now they're everywhere to protect millennials' feelings
He, she, his, him, hers, them, they
Screw a pronoun, 'cause everyone's a retard these days
I hear 'em preaching at a protest that hatred's the problem
But hating straight men, white folks, and Christians is common
Coca Cola telling people they should be less white
They preaching tolerance but if you disagree, they fight
There's a race war here, elections based on fear
Black lives only matter once every four years
Soldiers died for this country and every one of us benefits
Give welfare to the bums and forget about the veterans
Black folks and white folks divided by the news
But we're all the same, we are red, white, and blue
Ashamed to be American? Okay, that's cool
'Cause honestly, we are all ashamed of you too
Y'all are so fake, oh no
The forecast said that there'd be snowflakes, whoa-oh
You can't make us see it your way, no way, gasoline and propane
More flames, oh no
No more snowflakes
They set us up to fail, that's what they built the system for
Put an ammunition shop across the street from a liquor store
Empowering women used to be different than this before
The role models got OnlyFans or dance on a stripper pole
Screw it, I ain't tripping, I don't mean to be mean
But if our children are the future then our future is bleak
They take an Adderall to focus, hit McDonald's to eat
They're addicted to phones and they take Xanax to sleep
They blurred the lines dividing communism and democracy
In 2021 we paint the patriots as Nazis
The men playing women's sports get trophies for winning
Like great, let's celebrate a man for beating some women
If you're black, your life matters, you're supposed to embrace it
If you're rich or you're smart then you're probably Asian
If you're gay then you're brave, all of that I'm okay with
But if you're white, the stereotype is you are a racist
Blaming capitalism like that's the reason things are tough
While you tweet from an iPhone and sip on a Starbucks
You're supporting what you stand against you don't think you are but
A Percocet addict don't donate money to pharma
Damn dog, we're all afraid to speak the truth
And the more afraid we get, the more we hate the ones who do
You're ashamed to be American, okay that's cool
'Cause honestly, we are all ashamed of you too
Y'all are so fake, oh no
The forecast said that there'd be snowflakes, whoa-oh
You can't make us see it your way, no way, gasoline and propane
More flames, oh no
No more snowflakes
We could all get along but there's no stopping, ay
Everybody's wrong, that's a real problem, ay
They don't wanna hear it but they still talking, ay
Soon enough we running outta options, ay
This ain't gonna end till it's in a coffin, ay
We ain't gon' be friends till we try to squash it, ay
I don't know how we can make amends or we drop it
Snowflakes melt when it's hot, kid
Y'all are so fake, oh no
The forecast said that there'd be snowflakes, whoa-oh
You can't make us see it your way, no way, gasoline and propane
More flames, oh no
No more snowflakes"
BTW. If you think he only appeals to red necks(or white rednecks), seriously search " tom macdonald reaction" in YouTube for the last week or month, there is seriously about 25 to 50 videos on this song and 90% are black dudes or chicks, I've only watched about half a dozen as curious how black people into hip hop would take some of the lyrics, but i havent seen a negative reaction yet they are all going, yeah right on man, wow did he just say that, but aint that the truth...etc
Im sure there must be a few negative reaction videos though if i keep watching but yet to see one.

Yeah d00d. I heard the lyrics. They're not very controversial though are they. Dog whistling and whining about people being "snowflakes" whilst acting like one yourself is commonplace, and hardly the act of a daring individual.
Well I'm glad you don't find it controversial im sure many would, I thought people like you would be jumping up and down calling it hate speech or something.
Also surprised YouTube doesn't cancel it, because sadly they do cancel people and channels for far far less, you even get channels now that wont even mention certain words for fear of getting strikes or banned.
"Bring the pub to your loungeroom with the worldwide livestream on eMusic Live of the Cosmic Psychos gig from the Forum Melbourne. Thursday July 1st."

Interesting concept, might have to give it a go, cost is reasonable $12.00
I wonder how much the band gets though?
"This song's called Pub. It's Knighty's dedication to all the pubs in Victoria."
"In the world, mate."
Some great talents combine...
True Robwilliams. The term 'woke' somehow sounds juvenile. It feels like it gets used in a similar fashion to primary school playground name calling. If I'm awake have I been woke? My old boss is a christian nutter who is always getting into arguments on facebook and whinging about 'wokeness'.
Sang Jason Isbell:
'Is your brother on a church kick?
Seems like just a different kind of dope sick
Better off to teach a dog a card trick
Than try to have a point and make it clear'
and on another track:
'And the church bells are ringing for those who are easy to please
And the frost on the ground probably envies the frost on the trees.'
Punk would still exist, It would happen somewhere, somehow. There are some great fun punk gigs in my neck of the woods.
I don't listen to heaps of Hip Hop but I like some of the stuff by Hail Mary Mallon

Motherfucker
Money on my motherfucking mind
Cop five haircuts at the same time
White gold pants, jet ski made of wine
Foie gras bust of Albert Einstein
Get Money
Money out my motherfucking mouth
A mansion, a ranch, and a camp and a town
A motherfucking store with a floor made of scalps
Bobby from the block don't got rocks, he got Alps
Get Money
Money in the motherfucking jar
Shark fin pastry
Summers on Mars
Twenty motherfuckers in a levitating car
Seven-forty-seven full of women and cigars
Get money
Money in the motherfucking pot
A castle full of cars and the yard full of yachts
A leopard with a mink
And an arm full of clocks
All hand wound everyday by a Spock
Get money
Money is a motherfucking joke
Forty bald eagles sewn onto a coat
Zoo with the crib, mermaid in the moat
Buy another strip mall every eighth note
Get money
Money ain't a motherfucking prob
It's a sport I invented to win when I watch
And own all the rights and the lights and the locks
Even own all the ice in the Sprite you just dropped
Get money
Money or your motherfucking life
Two ton angel carved outta ice
Alligator sailboat, dollar sign eyes
Fill a warehouse full of Van Goghs twice
Get money
Money or your motherfucking heart
I could give it to my dog
He makes money when he barks
Or put it in my fridge
Or in one of my parks that i bought
So my robots could learn how to LARP
Get money
Agree with the" Wokeness " what would be the opposite term "Blokeness" a woke bloke aint no joke.
This song shouldn't really exist...such extreme crossovers are cringeworthy or fall flat.
1980 Apple Pie Country Gal had to get some Punk cred or fast become irrelevant.
This was always gonna be a tuff gig...almost impossible...gonna have to scream her guts out!
Then consider this youthful makeover was mid New Wave - Punk era...no pressure.
Band's secret was not going full leather but to kick out the country in an ugly way...good plan!
Low key barn vid lends "real punk edge" to bumpkin's sharp slab sound to earn their New Wave Stripes.
Check also for the 4th April 1980 HBO live version > ramps it up...re: Band member's names.
2 or 3 songs off the ronstadt album written by Cretones frontman, mark goldenberg, check out "empty heart" by the cretones for a nice guitar riff most people havent heard (i dont know how to link it, tbb? you there?
Good song TBB, cheers, wasn't really familiar with her. And ll here is the song, the guy also wrote a hit for the Pointer Sisters. Can't say I like this song much but I like learning music trivia. The riff is ok, it reminds me of the Cure.
To link a song, click on the 'share' button in the YouTube clip and select 'embed' then 'copy'.
The Ronstadt song reminded me of Pat Benatar... she's fucking great.
It is fairly simple
put curser arrow over youtube vid
right click and up comes a list of options
choose copy embed code (left click)
then in the swellnet comments box
right click then left click on paste
She sings on one of the tracks on the Phillip Glass album ''Songs from liquid days''
This Chuck Berry documentary on SBS is a good one if you are interested in music history.
He never toured with a band, his manager would just book a bunch of local musicians in each American town.
One backing musician was a very young Bruce Springsteen who tells a great story about the experience.

The doco also features Linda Ronstadt singing a duet with Chuck.

Don't even need to do that now - just copy the youtube URL (or vimeo, or instagram) from the browser address bar, paste it into comment box and it will be automatically displayed as an embedded video.
Too easy thanks
Good read.
Not a fan of the bands music but read about this before, it's crazy, feel for the guy, he did nothing at all wrong.
I don't care what your political views are left, right, central it's absolutely crazy and wrong how the media and authorities paint Antifa and lack of condemnation, mob violence, property damage and intimidation should never be acceptable, having some crazy fantasy that everyone who doesn't share your views is a fascist is just complete craziness. (and it wasn't just against Trump, it was a thing when Obama was in and still is with Biden)
His bandmates are completely gutless, if they wanted to appease some mob they could have just said the rest of the band doesn't share his admiration for Andy and his book and leave it at that.
BTW. the idea that anyone that calls out Antifa for their violence and craziness aligns with the far right is just completely crazy, even if you have central or left wing views you should not want to be associated with Antifa in exactly the same way 99% of conservatives don't support or share views with extreme far right groups.
PS. If you didnt know Andy is moderate conservative and also an Asian gay man and has been a victim of an attack from Antifa where he did apparently even have mild brain injuries, and has also had countless death threats towards him from Antifa members.
Moderate conservatives don't march with far right groups, and what does being gay have to do with anything?
Sounds like you could’ve penned a bit of that Mumford and sons hate mail.
Hiccups wrote:Moderate conservatives don't march with far right groups, and what does being gay have to do with anything?
He doesn't march with far right groups and he isn't associated with any right or far right groups, but yes he has used groups like the proud boys for protection when reporting on Antifa when there has been lack of police presence.
It's not important that he is gay or even asian or that has parents were refugees, but it does help paint a picture of who he is to people that dont know, it takes away any misconception that...oh he must be some white straight right wing guy with a bald head and tats of the American flag or whatever..
I quite liked the music on their breakout as I thought it was a loud n'proud rebirth of the native folk music of the 1960s UK my mum loved and shared with me as a child. And related to the folk explosion in the early 60s (where Dad got to see Dylan in the village in '61 or '62 I think, taken by his teachers, before Dylan went really big!). It seems Winston's unfortunately said the wrong thing at the wrong time from a centrist perspective and has been eaten by the mob.

Interesting post with the Johnny Marr song VJ, kinda intriguing to hear Johnny Marr's guitar playing with his vocals instead of Morrissey's.
And Marr looking like a cross between Noel Gallagher and Al Pacino.
Alright, time for some discussion on what yr all listening too. My iTunes inventory is getting a little stale so I'm up for some inspiration.
Currently loving The Drones' album "Havilah".. incredible songwriting and some of the best recorded guitars and drum I've heard in a long time. I'm a little late to the party with this album but it's on high rotation at the moment and will probably stay there a while. I've seen these guys live once (Fowlers, Adelaide) and fortunately they're incredible on stage too. Can't wait to see them again.
