Southern Tasmania Forecast (issued Wednesday 18th December)

Best Days: Thursday morning, Sunday morning, Tuesday morning

Recap

Tiny waves were seen through yesterday and they've continued into today but a slight increase in SW groundswell is due this afternoon from a polar front pushing through our swell window earlier this week. Clifton should build to 2ft but conditions are average with a S/SE sea breeze.

This week and weekend (Dec 19 - 22)

This afternoon's increase in SW groundswell is expected to ease through tomorrow from an inconsistent 1ft to occasionally 2ft under N/NW winds ahead of a SW change.

Friday will then be tiny with some small new SW groundswell energy expected Saturday and Sunday as a couple of weak polar fronts push up towards us over the coming days (pictured right). The size isn't expected to top 1-2ft, and winds will be average and from the SW tending E'ly Saturday with more favourable N'ly winds Sunday as the swell eases.

Next week (Dec 23 onwards)

A couple of small and fun SW groundswell pulses are expected next week, generated by a series of polar lows moving in from the west over the weekend and early next week. Each swell doesn't look to top 2ft at this stage, but we'll look at this again on Friday.
