Sydney, Hunter and Illawarra Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 13th December)
Best Days: Saturday morning
Recap
Tiny surf continued through yesterday with morning onshores that freshened into the afternoon, while today the same tiny 1ft of weak E/NE swell is continuing with lighter and more variable winds at dawn. Fresh NE sea breezes will kick up a tiny windswell this afternoon but not above 1-1.5ft.
This weekend (Dec 14 - 15)
Saturday morning will offer the only real surfable waves as this afternoon's and evening's NE winds kick up a small and weak windswell limited to 1-2ft across north-east facing beaches. Everywhere else will be tiny.
Conditions should be clean at spots picking up the swell though with a morning S/SW breeze that will then freshen from the SE during the afternoon.
Come Sunday the NE swell will be gone and a weak S/SE windswell isn't expected to top 1-2ft at south facing beaches from Saturday's change.
Longer term (Dec 16 onwards)
Unfortunately there's still nothing major on the cards for next week besides background E'ly trade-swell to 1ft+.
Later in the week some more substantial NE windswell is on the cards, but check back Monday for an update on this.
