I think a good serving of anchovy on the next pizza you order will fix everything ;)

I don't have the fuckn answer, Brauds.... I just hate the way this country is going.... That's all... i don't know if you caught "Sunday Night" re' massive tax evasion..... Worth checking out if you have the means to do so.....

WTF are refugees from the Middle East coming to Australia?

Nearest point of relief surely if they are genuinely being persecuted eg Bangladesh, Russia, Ukraine, Saudi Arabia, Oman (look at a map!)

Would it have something to do with top dollar from Aust Government hand outs?

jesus ween, the Ukraine?....that's about as fucked up and the middle east countries they are fleeing!

as for Saudi.... Saudi's are big on protecting their own and low on protecting the rights of others. plus they haven't signed the UN refugee convention. so who knows how long you might spend in jail...cough cough.... detention....then one day they might just drive you to the border and kick you out....

it all depends up on your definition of persecution I suppose......if someone believed that the government was about to kill them, then sure, the Ukraine would look like the fucken Maldives, but if your persecution is rather continued harassment, for example the govt throwing you in jail for random bullshit again and again over and over, or stealing your shit, then you might choose to be slightly more selective about where you wished to migrate too.

and all around the world we are spending billions on finding the god particle, statues etc etc, on buying jet fighters, subs etc and have no real interest in helping those in need.
then we hide behind stupid fucking laws like the one mentioned in this thread and deny people a chance of a semi decent life.
we talk about having to pay for some poor bastard who has had a fucked up life and whinge about it.
for fucks sake, imagine if it was us.
basically we are a selfish lot, the so called developed countries are under developed in compassion.
have we not the common sense to undertake public work projects that can help our nations and also cater to helping those who need a new start in life with a decent standard of living.
one chance if they fuck up and their whole family gets penalised.
sometimes i get so worked up over the obvious stupidity that surrounds me, yet the solutions are right in front of our eyes.
shark attacks= low food stocks=how much is being spent on fish farming? fuck all-huge industry to breed fish for sale, restock rivers and ocean.
water= need to grow food/animal feed=how much is spent on water capture=fuck all
open your fucking eyes australians- there are opportunities there to grow new economies plus help relocated humans which augurs well for a greater future for all aussies
but no, we spend it on cities- traffic jams, pollutions, huge house prices- such short sightedness will pay the price and will it be too late- lucky i am getting an old bastard and hopefully they will have sexy nurses in the nursing home to give me a shower.
australia, a country with the world at its feet but its head up its arse, but i still love it- crazy bastard that i am.

"Basically we are a selfish lot, the so called developed countries are underdeveloped in compassion."

What a load of shit .

Over a third of Australia's budget goes on welfare.

Not including foreign aid, disability and aged care, donations to charity or just personal handouts to friends and family.

Or even medical care for all, even tourists or the destitute.

Get yourself to Indonesia and tell them that your out of work and would like some money to tide you over till you get back on your feet.

Or go to India and see what sort of disability support you'll get from the government.

Aussies pay over and over again to help people .

davetherave Monday, 17 Aug 2015 at 7:38am

blowin, i was talking about humanity. I agree, australia is a world leader in being compassionate, but fuck mate, look at the food we chuck out, look at all those people still in refugee camps.
The vatican has enough treasure to sell to help all these people. The Anglican church has the same.
Look at the amount of money spent on weapons.
I am sorry if I upset you about what is really going on.
But we have the resources to house, feed and help these people in need, but we dont do it.
If the world followed australia's example we would have a far better world, but we dont because as i said, we are selfish, we refuse to help others that arent like us, we use excuses, we have huge administration costs that eat into the budgets to actually help alot of these people.
we spend billions on things that some say will help mankind, yet we have many millions of our own species suffering that we could help right now if we truly wanted to.
Use whatever justifications u want, but the facts are self evident, humanity has not and is not putting the well being of all humans as it's highest priority.

here's an interesting story, if Australians can privately sponsor refugees for $8 000 a year, why can't the Australian government?

yeh its not really dealing with the issue and its neglecting our responsibilities but so is everything we're doing now. and its got to be better than spending $100 000s a year to lock up asylum seekers in those miserable camps. this guy is smiling.. really smiling. we need more inventive thinkingto deal with this stuff.

http://www.theage.com.au/interactive/2015/frontiers-of-hope/indonesia/in...

another thing that complicates this issue is this guy got away from personal persecution by relocating to Pakistan. but then seemed to leave there because of a general lack of safety due to bombs going off. Australia cannot fix the whole planet. again how do we choose who is more entitled/in danger? really difficult.

interesting someone raised saudi arabia, this does my head in (and muslim friends) why doesn't a super rich country like saudi arabia do anything at all to help their muslim brothers? especially when one of the five pillars of islam is to be charitable. they are too busy exploiting cheap labor forces like their muslim Bangladeshi brothers, while gullible naive westerners are left to do all the heavy lifting

Do you ever address anything put to you, blowin? Or do you just scurry? You put questions to those here, me included, and expect answers... How about talking the talk, and not walking the walk....
"sick child analogy" put to me - i responded..
"Iran sanctions" - I responded...
"100 000 000 potential immigrants" - I responded
"Who WANTS to jump in the back of the paddy wagon " - I responded
"The godwin theory" - I responded
"Transfer of "prisoners" " - I responded
"Would you like to comment on how it affects your drastically incorrect opinion of myself?" - i responded

I respond to your every query, blowin.... You mightn't be in agreement with my responses, but at least I did you the courtesy....

But let's look at the other side of the ledger...... My queries to blowin;
"proof of your "250k" cost" - no response....
"proof of your "1/2 million" figure" - no response...
"inflation rate re' dissing the cost of refugees" - no response...
"analogy on those from Iraq/Syria/Libya" - No response...
"millions being spent on Nauru instead of keeping the money in our economy" - No response..
You did respond to Iran trade... So thanks for that.... But we couldn't finish that one cos you went off and had a hissy fit.....

So how about manning up, and doing what you expect other to do for you...
I'll ask you again re the situation in iraq ( the illegal by U.N stds war and invasion which we backed, and the sheer hell that has broken loose since then);

"But what if you blew up peoples houses, blowin, illegally.... Against U.N law... And then what if you put a violent criminal gang into the wartorn neighborhood to run it..... Do you say "hahaha"....??

Correlates with a lot of other manifestations of late of the Australian character, or lack of. This government in particular is trading on the worst of us all. Comrade, there's been murder, child abuse, and rape committed in these concentration camps. In our name?? But don't we all know this, yeah?

I offered you a heads-up, a warning of concern via Nietzsche.

Perhaps, I should've put it in plainer language (I do like to open up the possibilities and share the gold).

@Sheeps….note this is a global problem and the companies are not breaking the law. Its not avoidance rather minimisation. Sure it aint good - but if we are to have the current laws then this is what global companies can do. Clearly both sides of politics need to fix this … but they don't know how at this stage. This was on the G20 agenda but I don't know the outcome. Not sure how affective 'naming and shaming' will do - we know most of them and still use / buy their products.

Yes tony... I know it's global... I'm not into the "name and shame" tactic...... I think a better way about it would be to name and praise the decent competitors of these companies that base their offices here and pay their fair share.... As consumers, we can then favour these companies when purchasing...
For these decent companies, it would be advertising money can't buy...
In the meantime, I'd suggest less trade with the governments of countries like ireland , who like to sponge.... Not sanctions, just look for markets elsewhere...

"I've noticed it... a strange breed of new Coalition commenters. They're not the regular Right wingers who fall over when you present them with real facts or real arguments. Nor are they the Lib 'grunters', the one-liners who have always supported the Libs and occasionally visit to say they hate Labor. Rather, these are snappy fast talkers, always coming back with extremely dodgy reasoning, ad hominem dismissals, and a certainty of purpose that says they are really only there to blunt any Left wing attacks. Their arguments run the full gamut of debating abuses: ad hominems, patronizing their opponents, drawing the wrong inferences, selective use of evidence, ignoring negative evidence, distractions, non sequiturs. They never display any weaknesses and are always fully certain about Lib virtues and Labor failings. They're a different breed from the idiots from the Herald Sun and Daily Telegraph who can't string two sentences together. They were never seen until the last couple of months and now they're matching the Left commenters post for post. I'm sure a number of them are party faithful or staffers backed up by some coaching." - dave frasca

well, maybe I should have been a little more succinct. Given this is an historical divide between the two then they can sort each other out and have their own power struggle which is what this is shit fight is about. They play by no rules so its best to stay out of it. hence migration from these areas needs to be carefully managed and it may not satisfy all of the 'humanitarians'. A difficult problem to solve, granted, but if after over 1000 years the problem is still there - lets move on.

The catholics and protestants of Northern ireland didn't exactly play by the rules either, mate.... But what exactly is your point?
You do realize that before the big carve up after the first and second world wars, where the west came in a drew up imaginary borders, separating some tribes and pushing others together, that things weren't quite as rad...... Yep, the Iraq intervention was a mess. There are several events in history where removing a despot or dictator has caused such problems. But in Iraq the majority are Shiite whilst Saddam Hussein was Sunnie.
More relevant is - do we take on any flavour of Muslims just because they maybe a minority in their lands ? The West have caused an issue with Israel and Palestine - a real problem which arguably is a seed for more problems elsewhere.

but I guess if you spend 10 million dollars on Gestapo like uniforms it would be a waste if tbere wasn't some Gestapo like behaviour to try them out

you would hope when they catch an irish backpacker they Gestapo them up too.

this really is becoming a little ridiculous, considering their role you'd expect the uniforms to be a litrle less nazi like. who the fuck makes these decisions? all the ideology aside, the right really does have an ugly side
