Weatherzone ACCESSG charts

BOM have both charts now, EC and their own ACCESS model.
EC winds are still where they have been for a while..

While the new ACCESS model is here..

The BOM are currently changing their forecasting products as well as the way they are presented.
They look more like Weatherzone's current products.

I think BOM were using GASP,there's a thread on the new models in the WZ forums, someone on there will give you the right answer. Will be interesting to see how these new models go in coming months especially with a La Nina in the mix.

BOM (or any other forecasters I know) rarely used GASP operationally.. it was an in-house model built by the NMOC that had poor performance results across the board.
I'm quite excited about the possibilities with ACCESS.. we'll eventually have an operational high res version as well (ACCESSM) which should be great for local winds.

Ok so ACCESSG replaces the old BoM 7 day forcast model. So I guess the question is what model was the old BoM 7 day forcast model based on?(ACCESSG=new BoM 10 day forcast model replacing the old 7 day model)

The old BOM 7 day forecast guidance was GASP (with its derivatives LAPS and MesoLAPS). However, for public information (such as the "four day charts" issued to many newspapers), the BOM used ECMWF data.
I believe that the BOM are migrating over to ACCESS for all public products. Out of interest, the letter at the end denotes the region.. "ACCESSG" is global, "ACCESSR" is regional, "ACCESSM" is meso.

Thanks for clearing that up Ben I knew Id seen GASP pop up somewere when flicking between BoM forcast models & couldnt remember where. It's going to be an interesting time with a few new gadgets to play with.
Hey guys, just noticed Weatherzone have some new charts. Denoted as ACCESSG, which is stated as being derived by the UK MET and the charts that the BOM use. I thought the BOM use the EC charts?
