What's what?
Ain't there a thread on China?
Woo woo....thread police ! Pull over pull over !
Indo, I agree the medivac legislation wasn't Shorten's finest hour in political terms and yes, Morrison did make it very difficult for him. So, if you want a sneaky underhanded politician in charge of the country then yep Slomo is your man. Shorten was trying, at some political risk, to improve the situation of refugees in our care. If you are OK with the current standard, I am not. It is unacceptable for a man to die of blood poisoning because they could not provide an antibiotic drip and another to die because they took 36 hours to airlift him to a hospital after suffering burns to 60% of his body and yes those burns were self-inflicted but so fuckin' what. These people have not broken any law, as asylum seekers they have every right to enter Aystralia by any means available, just as Australia has a right to vet their claims.
You might also consider the appalling behaviour of members of his government, including the finance minister, in breaching long standing standards of behaviour in relation to gifts. Oh and have a look at the funding for those centres, no open fair tender process, just contracts to mates, or the distribution of millions intended for indigenous communities redirected into the pockets of non-indigenous consultants. I would suggest you read the Shorten interview and then tell me what problems you see with his policies.
Forget ProMo, maybe it's time! Again!
An oldie but a goodie from Sypkan's latest crush:

Q and A is best when no politicians are on it. Best I saw was the night Barry Humphris appeared and the topic of coal mining came up. All Barry wanted to talk about was Gina's big black hole, everyone was in stitches with laugher.
Watched about 30 minutes of last night's show before my eyes glazed over. Agree with comments above but seems all of you failed to mention the underwhelming performance by Alex Hawke, Liberal representing Woolongong. Man, that guy so must tuck his crisp white shirt into his starched Yfronts. Another happy clapper attending Hillsong.
Alex Hawke appeared to have a lower than normal level of intelligence.
For a religious right-winger, Catherine McGregor was wonderful, displaying the most poise, dignity and humour on the panel.
As a trans person, it was interesting when she said that someone who was born a male has a distinct advantage in sport.
Does this mean that, like Martina Navratilova, she is trans-phobic?
Hey Blindboy, you've written off Jordan Peterson before, have you softened your stance?
If Peterson can keep that "bulldog licking piss off a thistle" look on Van Badham's face for an hour and a half, he can't be all bad.
And his face? Let's just call it, paradoxically perhaps, 'constipated vegan'.
If he's still around in a coupla years, get back to us.
As for Cate, could this be described as erm, bitchy? As former Minister for Women and close personal friend, I'm sure Tones Abbott would approve of this spicy lingo. Raaow!

Confidence that human activity is causing global temperatures to rise has reached 5-sigma.
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-climatechange-temperatures/evidence-f...
“The narrative out there that scientists don’t know the cause of climate change is wrong. We do.”
What does 5-sigma mean? If the results of an experiment (e.g. smashing particles together to try to detect the Higgs Boson) reach a 5-sigma confidence level, that means if the results were due to chance you'd expect to need to conduct the experiment 3.5 million times to see the result once. In laymans terms, the claim is that there is only a 1 in 3.5 million chance that human activity is not causing global warming.
Tell that to the COALition Pops, they seem to have missed the news on climate change.
facto, I didn't see the Jordan Petersen/Van Badham thing but I can understand how after an hour of Petersen, being unanaesthisised in the dentist's chair might suddenly seem quite attractive..
Warning: this ain't crap, and may in fact be very, very handy, if not nigh on indispensable.
As if you’d have a clue. The king of confirmation bias.
Macro business has been providing accurate and verifiable macroeconomic reporting that you casually dismiss because it doesn’t suit the personal ideologies to which you’re chained.
Clean up your own backyard before you start patronising the rest of the forum.
"As if you’d have a clue. The king of confirmation bias."
Hah! That old reliable psychological projection...again.
Speaking of clueless, worked out how to post a pic yet, Moey?
As for your recent discovery, Macro (definitely a) Business...well, as has been said numerous times before, at least it's a baby-step up from your old faithful, Blowipedia.
They're still a cherry-picking business, but. As has been demonstrated numerous times before.
I wonder if Leith is still gonna front up on the Bolt show these days after his Pell imbroglio?
Probably.
Hey, it's all about the (macro) business!!!!
You’ve never demonstrated anything. You’ve attacked Macrobusiness ad hominem or provided weak links from compromised sources , you’ve not once contradicted a single prediction or article they’ve put forward.
They literally put their money where their mouth is whilst you parrot the ALP party line come hell or high water.
You routinely quote the opinion of the Guardian (!!) despite it being openly ridiculed by John Pilger in another link you provided.
Ho hum, goldfish memory...again.
Do we have to drag up previous posts...again?
Hang on, what time is it over East?
Blowie, you on the piss...again?
Can’t download photos.
Looked at Imgur and it wants me to sign in which I refuse to do. If you can do it , well done.
Hahaha. YOU ARE PISSED!!!!
Have a go at https://imgbb.com/, ya drongo!!!!
Thanks, but still can’t do it.
Yes, had a few beers.
Tried the [img] ..........[/img] around the link thing. No luck. WTF ?
Ya upload your pic and then go to BBCode full linked and select. Copy the code and paste it in the thread.
Like this:
Oh yeah, I also get rid of their advertising fluff by cutting the link down to the bare-bones leaving the meat.
The [url=https://ibb.co/M7dWhrn] fluff.

Fuuuuuuucccckkkkkk
He's done it!
Ready to take up that position at Google HQ now.
Seriously.....how many years did that take ? You’d be even happier than I am , Stu.
.
Thanks Blowin that was really motivating.
First photo , BB ?
Then welcome to 2019. I only just got here myself . It seems nice in a Buck Rogers kind of way.
I thought there’d be hover boards by now.
PS nice banksia
Yeh I tried a couple of times before but couldn't be stuffed when it didn't work. The bush area across the road is just full of B.serrata, it's a 10 minute walk through It to the lookout for a surf check so I do it a couple of times most days.
Geez I'm trying to do this from my phone, going to have to re visit this method later. At least the link works...
Looking forward to more pics now from blowin and blindboy.
Facto, funny stuff!
Edit: Ha got it, stoked!
Cheers Facto.
Must be very trying having to trudge through all that pristine bush to check the surf . Bet you’re missing the soothing sound of relentless traffic.
How are the initial feelings of moving ?
Separation anxiety or sigh of relief ?
"I am aware he has been convicted of those charges: that an appeal against the conviction has been lodged and that he maintains his innocence in respect of these charges," ex-PM John Winston Howard wrote in his reference for Cardinal Pell at his trial.
"None of these matters alter my opinion of the Cardinal."
Mr Howard said he has known Pell for about 30 years.
"Cardinal Pell is a person of both high intelligence and exemplary character," he wrote.
"Cardinal Pell is a lively conversationalist who maintains a deep and objective interest in contemporary social and political issues.
"It is my view that he has dedicated his life to his nation and his church."
The right wings' shining (b)lights must have had trouble sleeping last night with all that self-righteousness clunking around in their tin heads.
Andrew Bolt and Miranda Devine say Cardinal George Pell's conviction was wrongful and 'accusations are implausible'.
But, but, Westie, Bolt is only speaking out against injustice!
Paywall, but you get the gist.
Ha yea, the injustice of justice! Someone's got to speak up for the (un)Godly 'vanilla' perpetrators!
Won't somebody please think of the convicted rapists!
Cos you know Andrew Bolt will.
All good Blowin. The sound of the wind and the surf have replaced the traffic noise and my wave quality and count is way up so no complaints. Pretty much a sigh of relief after the stress and hassle of selling, buying and moving. Lucked into a great open mic at a local pub on Sunday, really cool group of people and some seriously good players, so I am signed up for the next one. I was a bit concerned about losing contact with the musos I knew in Sydney but it is turning out well.
Those wondering how Abbott and Howard can stand by Pell need to consider the role Pell had in the setting the conservative political structures and agenda within the Liberal Party and more generally in Australian politics.
Before Howard the Liberal Party was most certainly not the natural home of religious conservatives and certainly not catholics. It was the Labor Party that attracted catholics. Santamaria's "anti union/communist drive during the 1950s saw Labor split into the ALP and catholic dominated DLP. During the 1960s and 1970s the DLP faded into political insignificance but through the work of Santamaria and Melbourne catholic bishop Mannix and then Pell catholics and other organised christian groups started looking to the Liberal Party for influence. Howard in opposition and later as prime minister fostered the relationship with religious conservatives in his (1) drive for power, (2) desire to refashion the Liberal Party and (3) goal of shaping a conservative political narrative.
Howard and Pell were extremely successful in their work and the Liberal Party of today is absolutely stacked with MPs who proudly proclaim their fundamental christian belief. Abbott like Howard has fostered a mutually beneficial decades long relationship with Pell in pursuit/support of a conservative agenda.
Bishops Mannix and Pell made the catholic church front and centre of political debate in this country on any and all social issues: e.g. the central themes of Pell's infamous speech in which he acquainted climate change science/debate to pagan worship were used by Tony Abbott in London just a year or two ago.
Pell, Howard and Abbott all fingers in the same glove. As for Bolt, he's just the poor piss hand.
Interesting post guysmiley. I'm not sure if it was on the drum or rn yesterday, but I heard an interesting conversation about the alliances you're talking about. They were basically saying that pell, abbott and howard all use the same language when talkng about governance, environment, and climate change etc, and it's no accident.
There's a concerted effort between them to portray the environmental movement as 'evil' socialists, especially the greens. There's an element of truth to that (greens being socialist that is, not evil, (then again, thinkng about s.h.y...nah, maybe not)), anyway, portraying capitalism versus socialism, and commensuretly, environmental action versus no action, as good versus evil is a step too far, way way too far.
Interesting development considering the history you've just displayed.
Whether pell is innocent or not re. the current crime, that character reference from howard is pure evil, given the role pell has played in cover ups
Pure fucking evil!
"portraying capitalism versus socialism, and commensuretly, environmental action versus no action, as good versus evil is a step too far, way way too far."
So it is OK by you for us to sit back and do nothing about climate change which has already caused a large number of deaths and an immense amount of human suffering ......... sounds pretty fucking evil to me!
.
I have never said, that's NEVER said, sit back and do nothing. In fact, I do little things everyday. Little things you think are a waste of time, or effort, or martyrdom, or something...
However, my efforts and beliefs go well beyond climate change. I see bigger problems and an interrelatedness between them. But hey that's just me.
And fwiw, I'd probably 'identify' myself socialist (mainly due to there not being a more fitting label unfortunately).
You've got to stop seeing the world as us and them blindboy. Just because someone likes to question groupthink and tribalism doesn't mean they're not on board.
It might just mean they're concerned about the nature of the debate. In terms of it being isolating and hypocritical rather than it being mustering and leading in it's nature.
Which is what is required.

Fuck I'd love to see Blindboy while he's writing one of those totally OTT rants -
furiously furrowed brow, veins bulging in the neck and temple, a single drop of sweat on the pursed top lip.
Feet up, with a beer pissing myself laughing is more my usual style. I mean look at sypkan' last couple of posts. Says one thing in plain simple English, then when I call him out he denies that's what he meant. You have to laugh.
