On fire, Mr Zen.
Saints preserve us.
for zen and all the teachers doing kris kringle at lunch, and fucking off on their hols. Play it loud, windows down, (spin your tyres a little in the teachers' car park, if your boss or colleagues have been petty over the last few weeks).

Thanks B6. I was a teacher until a week ago. Thankfully I've never been Kancho'd in my professional life.
This is cool good to see Rick giving some focus to a lesser known band.
Swervedriver's Duel is such a good song, Adam seem's like a top guy too.
&t=209sHow fkn good are SWD?
One of my top three for sure.
Saw ém at The Northern in 98/99? with maybe 50 people?
They imploded later on that tour between Perth and Adelaide i think.
Managed to get all my records and cds signed in the mid 2000s, nice blokes for sure.
One of my many faves of theirs...
an extremely well-worn swellnet staple, for @icandig, @vj, @only-sams and anyone getting that new-beginnings vibe for 2025..
Cheers Basesix. This one's been on high rotation.

Twangy guitar to couple of stoner rocks to a psychedelic live one. Not bad.

Agree! Check this grungy good time live Chix Psych gig that grooves better by the minute
We're talking 138 views...Dead Witch dead set blows our tiny minds..

I'd be a groupie to that band! A few decades ago anyway.
Have a great Xmas!
Merry Christmas y'all.
When ya gloss over some old dodgy song title by a band with a supa daggy name!
Sure...as if yer gonna cue that...give that a miss...Yeah Nah Maybe...Why not give it a listen...
Nah...think we'll skip that one...sounds fuckin' ridiculous!
So Idiot tbb cues the track...Like Oh yeah of course tbb Luvs this rare obscure radio song...knew that!
Then find out the band still rock the same shit hot track 50 years on...
1969 : Hot Smoke'n' Sas's'afras by Bubble Puppy...What by Who tbb? (No idea!)
Anyhow!...50 years fly on by...so has all such nonsense.
2019 : Grom joins his daggy dad in some creepy Hodad Saloon Bar ...Gulp!
Dad : Chalk up one for us Old Guys...that's how ya roll in yer grave Grom.
Grom : Fark! Dad...that Bubble Puppy be Fuckin' US Pub Rock Godz!
Dad : Yeah Son! Fuckin' Cool Stoner Song Title + shit hot band name...Huh! (Cough!)
Grom : Dad! Did you just Fart...or are ya just speaking shit again..
Bubble Puppy (Name) "Centrifugal Bumble Puppy Game" from Huxley's 1932 Brave New World!
Well they were trippers...What' did ya expect? Even spelt Sasafrass Wrong...
Like that! Yep! Let's flip it a little to showcase the cool prog psychedelic Bubble Puppy sound!
Yes Please!
Backing up to Stunet's track...very modern indeed...real blank gen stuff...
Please if ya got a few more Plain wrap prezzies like that Stu...
Why...coz it busts down doors...
Never gave it much thought but that track has a few cult like Blank Gen partners
[ Mod Lov / Road Runner ] + [ Iggy / I wanna be yer Dog ] +[ Reed / Vicious ]
So naturally when ya dig deeper...Yes...it is a pretty solid Underground Sect!
Road Runner originates from this Velvet Underground track...[ Sister Ray ]
Like buying a Smack subscription...can now listen to Sid's LP as NY Blank gen smack passport.
Count that as a wasted blank gen sub genre that hooked Sid 'Vicious' & spawned Flying Nun Records
Ya can trace this Smack sect back to Charles Manson : Mechanical Man / Don't do anything Illegal...etc...
Sounds eerily similar...very modern up front blank stare messages for the day...[Dope Punk Protest]
Well worth exploring further...not Smack or Sacrifice!...but that Doped out blank guru goo goo muck.
very nice theme @TBB..
(just interrupting for a sec to say - isn't it NICE to have a clear weekend between xmas and new years? hope people are getting to chill or do their own thing.. you back home @Guy? what'd you get up to?)
Good pick up, TBB. Listening to Sister Ray you realise the Modern Lovers did a lotta heavy lifting.
Which is pretty funny as Roadrunner only has two chords.
What's also funny is contrasting the two singers. Reed's snarling misanthropy and heroin-chic and smiling Jonathon Richman wearing a polka dot shirt and singing about dachshunds or umbrellas or cars that go "faster miles an hour."
Modern Lovers did it different.
Osees are touring in Feb / March. New album is a departure, no guitars. Great review in Pitchfork.
https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/osees-sorcs-80/
Dwyer travels some territory.
If you are into it, the whole album live from a rooftop in LA.
I've never been to the Croxton. Any good as a venue?
It's been a venue for as long as I can remember but have never been either. Not my side of town and used to host gigs I wasn't interested in. Keeps popping up on my radar with more interesting things of late
Here's another one of them 1969 blank gen gems...
There is club card sound with this twisted prophetic protest punk lyric.
Same lazy slack arse infectious twang...like a guru instruction that plays itself.
Threads that Punk hippie line which is rare in itself but still very worthy.
Likely all met each other from crashing cars on the wrong side of road...
Oh wow dude...I thought I was the only one that thinks it's safer drivin' on the other side.
So infectious like a dirty disease...like ya wanna slip into their $2 sound.
Move over or better if ya just collapse over the bong table...are we on....
Oh yeah Man we're on what was it!
World kicks yer to the curb...fuck that that feels good...is he dead yet!
All fuckin' whacked out & tripper swears he can't record recalling it.
Sure fuckin' glad that don't make a lick of sense...you fuckin' dope as fuck losers!
I'll get back to this...
Coz recall some real wasted jams & if the trip comes on...it is infectious.
But there is a lot room here...can take this in another direction.
Amazing how stu kicks that off...cues just the right photo or song...a gift.
Said it would open doors...think it has...
Anyhow...shared this before...pretty sure yer supposed to wear it.
So here's another angle on Blank Gen but it's inner circle Punk Hovel.
So we simply swap the dirty needle for a plastic bag with a dash of this...
https://i.etsystatic.com/46038625/r/il/5675da/6294096475/il_1588xN.62940...
So what happens is ya get a cult like attraction to a certain jagged scaled punk sound
It's very specific...so who ever cues the next track ya all just know how it will sound...
Ok tbb...all this is pretty fucked up punk shit...so this is a thing...Yep!
Highly secretive fucked up dirty hovel punk inner circle bag in hand...
Totally whacked out yer brain.
Kinda races on scales but also very sharp...like jolts...
Here's the thing...you don't get a say...you're attracted to the buzz...
It's either on or not...very precise sound science..
So even when tbb goes looking all these years on...these songs will leap out...Bingo!
At first ya think it's just the pitch...then the lyric but not either
But it's gotta be a stark objectifying quality structured song...
No fake will be tolerated...ya can't fool yer heightened senses...
It knows what it craves...so the drug effect is tuning the crew into a wave length.
So yeah! Ya hear it & yer on...all are on...like as if it's hypnotic.
Think of it as a song that lasts as long as yer fav cartoon more so than a movie...
So the listener swears it's half an hour worth of adventure.
If anything it's like a background mixed transistor sound the follows you around.
Artists / Bands can be pop / punk / blokes / chix it don't matter...it's a spell.
...so what does it sound like...very much exactly like these 3 songs...
So these are premium Lighter Fluid solvent abuse trax that jump outta yer collection.
All abusers will pick the exact same sound...or similar more so when completely tripping.
So...very exclusive inner circle punk hovel solvent sniffing formula...ready...let's go!
We had a moment with Wire the other day but it just occurred to me that the chances of the Go-Betweens being influenced by them are pretty high.
AndyM (Above) Wire LP 1977 > This similar Go Betweens 1978 Track : Karen
1983 tbb's Goldie band > Qld Upper House : [ Mirrors ] also tributes a mix off Wire LPs
tbb & Bass Player were more hooked on Wire : Chairs Missing LP.
tbb recalls flipping them tight tricky rolls thru the verses as the back beat.
re: Brizzo 4ZZZ played this catchy track once & tbb recorded half of it as ya do...never heard it again.
Dig the far out newwavelength.
Patrick D. Martin has a few trippy songs > Kinda sounds Like {Sparks}
Get It Together E55 15th Jan 1980 [1:20] TSD's break out into a [ Rave ]

Seriously cool Rave...calling that! That's tbb's Kinda New Wave Rave.
Sadly Patrick passed away earlier this year in April 2024...r.i.p.
Alright, time for some discussion on what yr all listening too. My iTunes inventory is getting a little stale so I'm up for some inspiration.
Currently loving The Drones' album "Havilah".. incredible songwriting and some of the best recorded guitars and drum I've heard in a long time. I'm a little late to the party with this album but it's on high rotation at the moment and will probably stay there a while. I've seen these guys live once (Fowlers, Adelaide) and fortunately they're incredible on stage too. Can't wait to see them again.
