Leftover prawns & seafood sauce sandwich/roll.
Daughter made me a bagel with cream cheese and salmon. I have to say, I don’t get the bagel thing. Heavy, doughy and bland…could just be Aussie bagels are just poorly made? Friend reckons they are the best thing about New York.
Most Aussie Bagels are crap RK but when you get a great one yummy. Baguettes also come to mind. Anyway the one ingredient that can make or break a sandwich is the..... bread. The best fillings in the world just don’t taste as good as they should if the bread isn’t right. Conversely, even so-so fillings are elevated by really good bread.
I'd respectfully disagree there Seaslug- nothing beats a sanga on plain old fresh white bread.
Yes FR, there is always an exception to the rule :) with tommie sauce of course
Canned Tuna and Tommie Sauce Sanga
Cheese and Apricot Jam Sanga or on Toast .
Cheese and jam sangas are so good.
Raw Garlic on Toast....after 10 Beers.
Haha I’d suggest you stop drinking.
Did you really?
Yep ... it was a Fav Drunken Feast.
Whaahaa jeebus. I’d almost prefer to be that flaming motorcycle daredevil that Adam12 posted than eat that.
Hey BaseSix…. you requested the details of The Chrissy Leftover Sandwich and they are such…..
pieces of chateaubriand roast, green beans, mashed potatoes with bearnaise sauce drizzled on sourdough baguette.
Potatoes reheated with butter.
Meat and green beans sautéed on high heat for two minutes in garlic/butter/rosemary.
Bread lightly toasted.
Bearnaise sauce slowly reheated on stovetop.
Partly hollowed out sourdough baguette lightly toasted.
Yeah Base, if you cut up a chateaubriand into steaks, you’d get a filet mignon. Expensive cut, but my sis is doin well (her place, her dinner), and i won’t complain,
She set me up nice with the leftovers.
Wintertime here so food gets more hearty.
I didn’t know about the French poet, so i looked him up, so you, in turn, learned me something, too.
Seems like he was Opti’s kinda guy.

I hope you cook that steak blue?
Steak sangas with good quality meat don’t need much added. Bread, butter, salt and steak is all that is needed.
Roady……. for that sammie it was pretty clean. Just the butter, garlic, rosemary profile that woulda been present with the green beans anyways. I have some more of the meat for more sammies, but those, i’m thinkin, will be prepared as you prescribe, but with sweet peppers, onions, and cheese melted over top. Dunno what kinda cheese, but pepper jack springs to mind…
^ haha yessss, the alt burger journey continues
… & who da fark is bette midler ;)
https://m.
Wasn’t it Burger King in South Oz years ago while it was Hungry Jacks everywhere else.
My memory must be wrong. Must have been in 80’s in Radelaide I asked the parents why is it Hungry Jacks here.
Didn’t matter. We’d never eaten maccas or b king or jacks in our young lives. I must have been 11.
I'm laughing so much at all this..... i guess i'd eat anything, anywhere. Broad standards, i like ta think.....

Wash your mouth out B6.
Samboy crinkle cut salt and vinegar, white bread, lashings of butter and crushed within an inch of its life(?) by hand until it doesn’t even look edible anymore.
Soo good!

Waxy old mate. This is a just a short but you get the idea a of an Aussie burger. I kill this half arsed version but you can get the gist.

What did she do wrong? No right or wrong answer.
First gotta grill that tin pineapple slice after squeezing the excess juice out with paper towel.
A few more I can think of.
Anyone?
I am gonna make one today Seedsy! I am on a burger KICK!
Thanx for openin up The Sandwich Shop, Basey.
I let some others chime in tomorrow when they wake up. The chipper near where I work makes the best fish burgers known to man.. Still only $10 Ozzie. All I’d say is she’s pretty close but there’s a few extras that gotta be added.
Heya Waxxy on topic but off topic.
When you were growing up in the States, when you asked your parents what’s for dinner, did you get the reply, shit on toast? From Dad always. And if ya lucky I’ll sprinkle some sugar on top?
I always loved that saying and use it myself still to this day. Sounds terrible but it’s Aussie humour. We all got the humour as kids.
Anything like that in the States?
an innocuous thread for those that want to partake in 'a piece', as the sanga is called in Scotland. Surely, no biffo about this underrated between meal snack?
'Bread and water can easily be toast and tea' - true wisdom. But HOW GOOD is a good sandwich? And how cool is the guy that whips out a sandwich for smoko, chewing with disinterest, while a colleague microwaves last night's korma?
