Women use places like facebook groups and instagram more to build their social network.
SN wouldn't really serve that purpose.

Tens of millions of people were motivated to vote for a man that probably many millions more consider vile. For the record, I watched his acceptance speech and I was gobsmacked. But, maybe just maybe he offered more hope than KH and that's why he fucking smashed it. Finally, regarding SN and women- I think you are way off the mark and especially rough attacking individual forum members. You forget the people behind the keyboard. The vast majority are good men doing the best they can raising their kids to be the best they can. They no doubt love their wives, daughters and all the other women in their lives. You will really need to point out specific examples with the exception of Andys story which btw you totally overreacted to, because in my lengthy experience with this site people come and go and all are welcome and included (until not but you gotta be pretty fucking annoying to be booted from this site). I am sure more women contributors would be embraced here if they chose to do so, but as mentioned several times before, there's probably not that much here that interests them. If that's the case, maybe you can liaise privately with Ben and Stu with ways to increase their female audience, bearing in mind to not ostracise their core market- business suicide 101. I'm sure Ben and Stu would love to hear from you rather than thanking them in advance online for cheques you don't deserve.

Finally, enjoyed your podcast driving home. Sounds like a remarkable young lady. Easy for her to say she doesn't worry about the future. I said that at 25 too. Southern, hope you can find some of the joy Ruby has in her life. Sounds like she's doing just fine without you.

I'm really lost for words to describe it. I could never understand the mindset behind supporting a person like Trump, even some of the most intelligent people I have met support him.

My wife and I often chat with another couple we see on our daily walk. He, like my wife, suffers from Parkinson's, so we have some common ground: he is also a retired anaesthetist, so clearly an educated, intelligent man.

He raised the topic of Trump and what shocked me was his statement that he did not consider the character of Trump relevant to the position of POTUS, but considered only the policies he espoused.

I suspect there are many others like him.

Unfortunately not everyone will share the social standards you, I or many others hold. The internet being anonymous is the perfect medium for the dregs of society. That will not change anytime soon despite any regulation governments impose.

Wife was diagnosed 16 years ago and all things considered is doing ok. Fine motor skills have largely gone but the medication provided keeps her reasonably mobile. You just have to arrange your activities around the medication schedule. Fatigue is also an issue for her.

I’m in Victoria on the Mornington Peninsula. I’m not sure where you are, but it would be good to meet up if that becomes possible.

Look after yourself.

A similar % of women surfer would feel inclined to do the same. That % leads to a number that is not yet high enough for there to be enough women to feel comfortable to contribute.
This forum is very similar to ski.com where the volume is high enough for there to be many women posting there. But still, prob no where near 10% of all posts. Males tend to dominate forums. Nothing more than that. I think.

Having seen it with your father, you would know full well how frustrating Parky’s can be. And the incidence of PD is on the increase: the medical profession is trying to figure out why. Medication is getting better but a cure would be a godsend to all those afflicted.

Also , the ‘dregs of society’ comment was not in reference to anyone on this forum. Discussion may be vigorous at times, but I’ve never seen a post that would qualify as callous or heartless towards others.

I remember growing up as kids we went out and made our own fun, learnt things the hard way and took the advice of those older and wiser. It worked well. We were educated to think and analyse and come to a reasoned conclusion.

The internet is simply a brilliant means of communication, to learn and understand about our world and others around us. However it didn't take all that long with the rise of social media, for the devious in our societies to use it as a means of manipulation upon often willing victims. Now we have AI to deal with.

We are heading into another "Brave New World" where fact, fiction and fantasy for many, will be indiscernible.
