Women

Women.
A word that seems a little out of place on Swellnet.
Discuss if you dare.
Lets invite some women into this conversation.
Ask your female friends to join and contribute.....again...if you dare.
Lets see if the blokes of Swellnet can make space in the shed for some...other humans.
Question> Why are there no females on Swellnet, except for maybe 2 or 3 that have stayed true (respect legends).

Southern… Seedsy jumped in reflexively, cuz, sensing your elevated state of communication, saw that AndyM was in for a beating.
He has been dragged along since then. Please let him go.
The greater convo you seek will not occur without that.

I don’t believe Swellnets business model is geared towards women, nothing wrong with that Southern. Stop trying to be a saviour. Women and fucking tough man. Feminism means being treated as equals. Women don’t need you to save them champ.

Would love to see more women post here, i do think its a bit about age, while there is younger posters here, posters seem to be mostly be 40+ often in their 50-60s and there isn't much older women surfers as even starting surfing in the late 80s there was only one girl who surfed at school, even in the 90s they were a real novelty in the water, now its very different lots of girls surf where i live.

So yeah i think it has a bit to do with age, i think younger people in general are less likely to post in forums and more likely to stick to social media.

BTW. last few Indo trips we have had female surfers stay and it's been such a joy to surf with them, they have been the biggest frothers spending crazy hours in the water, and one girl would passionately wait her turn out the back for the inside position and then only take the biggest sets (not huge, but well overhead) and then surf with so much style, the sisters that stayed this years were great value on land too.

So yeah female surfers if your out there reading dont be shy, join the conversation.

Linking Rogan and women together, this for me is one of the best Rogan episodes, this women is an amazing person.

"Megan Phelps-Roper (born January 31, 1986) is an American political activist who is formerly a member of, and spokesperson for, the Westboro Baptist Church, a Hyper-Calvinist Christian sect, widely regarded as a hate group.[1][2] Her mother is Shirley Phelps-Roper, and her grandfather is the church's founder, Fred Phelps.
She grew up in Topeka, Kansas, in a compound with other members of the church.

As a child, she was taught the Westboro Baptist Church doctrine and participated in the church's pickets against homosexuality, the American response to the September 11 terrorist attacks, and the funerals of soldiers who died in the War in Afghanistan and the War in Iraq. In 2009, she became active on Twitter to preach the church's doctrine.

Phelps-Roper began to doubt her beliefs when Twitter users pointed out contradictions in the Westboro Baptist Church's doctrine, and when elders changed the church's decision-making process.

Phelps-Roper left the church in 2012 after she was unable to reconcile her doubts with her beliefs. Following her departure, Phelps-Roper became a prominent critic of the church's philosophy and practices. She travels around the world to speak about her experience in the church and advocates dialogue between groups with conflicting views. In 2019, she released the memoir Unfollow: A Journey from Hatred to Hope."

BTW. While i dont mind him, i wouldnt say it's Rogan im a fan of as such, it's more just the people he has on and relaxed conversation that is in depth and about anything.

Q. Why are there no females on swelllnet ? I think a female would be best at answering this question . I can only assume or try and guess the answer so I’ll take a stab at it . Not interested in the forums . Possibly prefer talking face to face about topics that interest them . Some may read the conversations on these threads and think WTF ? There may be many signed up but like some blokes are only interested in the forecasts and don’t wish to participate in discussions for whatever reasons . Some females may just not have the time to spend reading and writing on forums for a whole range of reasons, like having a life , haha . I think indo’s take on age also has something to do with it . Plenty of females that surf( and those that don’t ) know how to stand up for themselves and are intelligent, interesting and thoughtful humans. I too would like to see more females participate in discussions on swellnet , why you may ask ? To read their take and perspective on subjects . At the end of the day though, they may find it doesn’t really interest them after reading some of the shit that comes out from all of us blokes at times . They may prefer to spend more of their free time surfing .

Have a good day mate & hope some waves come your way , only head high ( odd bigger one ) here but better than nothing , some of the magnets would be good these coming days .

Make sure you wear it around the right way Seeds.

I have an answer to the original question.

The reason why few women are on Swellnet is simply there is nothing interesting here for them. For example, women are not interested in chatting about bear hunting, chainsaws and how to self-suture a gaping chest wound. Conversely, men are not interested in chatting about endometriosis, flower arranging or great places for brunch. It's that simple, I shouldn't have to spell it out.
