Recap
The swell hit a low point yesterday morning but all locations still had great waves with 4-5ft sets in the South West, 2ft Mandurah and 1-2ft across Perth.
Sea breezes developed into the afternoon along with some new swell later, with a peak seen today under fresh to strong E/SE winds
The South West is in the 6-8ft range, 2-3ft across Mandurah and 2ft in Perth.
This weekend and next week (Sep 14 - 20)
The current swell is peaking, and we’ll see a slow easing trend over the weekend thanks to the drawn out nature of the swell generating storm.
Easing 5-6ft waves are due in the South West tomorrow, 2ft+ Mandurah and 1-2ft across Perth, smaller Sunday and best around Margs.
Conditions look great but windy again tomorrow with a strong, morning E/SE breeze, easing ahead of little to no sea breezes in the metro locations, S/SE to the south. Strong E tending weaker E/NE winds are due Sunday, variable into the afternoon.
The surf will continue to fade in size and power through early next week with strong E/NE tending N/NE then variable N winds Monday, weaker E/NE-NE tending SW Tuesday.
Into Wednesday, a small mid-period W/SW swell is due, generated by a relatively weak but broad strom that fired up to the south-east of Madagascar the last couple of days. The metro regions aren’t likely to top 1-1.5ft with 3-5ft sets in the South West along with E/SE-S/SE winds.
Later week and into the weekend some new pulses of S/SW swell energy are due, thanks to a train of strengthening Southern Ocean storms firing up to the south of the country from mid-late week.
The intensity and location now look a little less ideal for our region, with moderate + sized pulses of S/SW energy due, building from Thursday, though peaking Friday/Saturday.
At this stage surf to 6ft+ is likely in the South West, 2ft Mandurah and 1-2ft across Perth with S/SE tending S/SW winds Friday, SE Saturday morning. We’ll have a closer look at this Monday. Have a great weekend!
