Western Australia Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday June 2nd)
Best Days: Tomorrow morning in the South West, Sunday morning Perth and Mandurah (Margs for the desperate), Margs for the keen Tuesday morning
Features of the Forecast (tl;dr)
- Small mid-period SW swell tomorrow with variable E/NE tending NW winds, easing Fri with fresh N/NW winds (N/NE early to the north)
- Moderate sized mid-period W/SW swell building Sat, peaking Sun with onshore winds (light, variable offshore Perth and Mandurah Sun AM)
- Easing swell Mon with strong S/SE winds, cleaner Tue with a background SW swell for the South West
Recap
A pulse of new swell yesterday with light winds across all locations, kicking to 4-5ft+ across the South West, 2ft in Mandurah and 1-2ft across Perth.
This morning the swell has faded back a touch across all locations with light, variable winds again.
This week and weekend (Jun 3 - 6)
We should see a new lift in mid-period swell for tomorrow, generated by an off-axis, pre-frontal W/NW gales moving through our swell window on the weekend.
Size wise, inconsistent 4-5ft sets should be seen in the South West with tiny waves in Perth and Mandurah.
Conditions should be clean across all locations with variable tending light offshore E/NE winds ahead of weak afternoon sea breezes.
Friday will see N/NW winds in at dawn across the South West as the swell starts to ease, NE early in Perth and Mandurah but with no size.
Into Saturday another pulse of weaker mid-period SW swell is due from pre-frontal W/NW winds moving in from the west, while we should see a slightly better and more sized mid-period W/SW swell for Sunday from a slightly better, trailing fetch.
Size wise the peak in size is due through the middle of the day/afternoon Sunday with the South West coming in at 4-6ft with 2ft sets in Mandurah and Perth.
Saturday will be a little smaller and onshore W/NW tending NW winds will persist across the South West, NE tending NW further north, with a trough bringing a S'ly change on Sunday, stronger S/SW into the afternoon. Perth and Mandurah should see light, variable winds in the morning though, creating good conditions.
Unfortunately the average outlook will continue into Monday with easing surf from Sunday under a strong S/SE breeze, cleaner Tuesday but only surfable across the South West magnets.
Mid-latitude lows and a lack of Southern Ocean storms will keep things quiet through next week and beyond with no break in the pattern visible at this stage. Very un-winter like. More on this in the coming updates.

Hey Craig, a little bit unrelated but I thought swellnet might be interested in doing a quick article on Ocean reef losing 4 surf spots due to development of a new marina and the growing support on an online petition:
