Western Australia Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 29th March)

Best Days: Protected spots in Margs tomorrow, Perth and Mandurah, Margs Saturday morning, Margs swell magnets Monday and Tusday mornings

Recap

A slight kick in swell across Perth and Mandurah with OK winds, onshore and average in the South West.

This morning there was a similar tiny swell in Mandurah with clean conditions, a touch bigger in Perth with 1-2ft sets while Margs also saw a touch more size but with onshore winds.

We'll see a new SW groundswell building to 5-6ft+ later in the day across the South West (the Margs cam is already showing size) and 2ft in Mandurah but with onshore winds.

Today’s Forecaster Notes are brought to you by Rip Curl

This week and weekend (Mar 29 – Apr 1)

This afternoon's pulse of SW groundswell is expected to peak tomorrow morning to 6ft to occasionally 8ft across the South West magnets, 2ft to possibly 3ft in Mandurah and 2ft on the sets in Perth.

The frontal system linked to the swell is now passing under the Bight and we'll see the swell ease slowly through tomorrow afternoon, further down through Friday from 4-5ft, 1-2ft in Mandurah and tiny around Perth.

Winds will improve tomorrow but remain average for exposed spots across the South West with a S/SE-SE breeze, cleaner further north with an offshore E/SE wind.

Friday is the pick with E/SE offshores due across all locations ahead of afternoon sea breezes.

Moving into the weekend, the swell will continue to ease into Saturday as winds revert back to the S/SE, creating less than ideal conditions.

A small increase in S/SW groundswell is likely later Sunday and early Monday, produced by a small weak front forming late in our swell window over the weekend.

I can't see much above 3ft+ across the South West later Sunday and early Monday (tiny to the north) though conditions will be better Sunday morning with a SE offshore, E'ly Monday.

Longer term there's still nothing major on the cards beside small to moderate pulses of distant SW groundswell. More on this Friday.
