Small ahead of a fun swell Thursday, more for the weekend
Western Australia Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Monday 6th November)
Best Days: Thursday morning, protected spots Saturday and Sunday mornings
Recap
Minimal surf over the weekend, best Sunday across the South West with a slight bump in swell which is holding a similar size this morning with favourable winds.
This week and weekend (Nov 7 - 12)
Our run of small to tiny surf will continue over the coming days, with tomorrow due to continue in the inconsistent 3ft range across the South West magnets, fading into the afternoon and smaller Wednesday morning.
Perth and Mandurah will remain tiny.
Conditions should be good both days with a fresh E/NE tending variable breeze ahead of late sea breezes tomorrow and fresh NE tending variable winds Wednesday.
A fun new W/SW groundswell is due on Thursday, generated by a strong but small mid-latitude low that's currently to our west-southwest.
This swell should be seen later Wednesday, kicking to 3-5ft or so and peaking Thursday morning to 5-6ft across the South West, with 2ft sets across Mandurah and Perth.
Conditions are looking great again for selected breaks on Thursday morning with an E/NE offshore, giving into a weak onshore change as a trough moves in from the west.
This trough looks to bring onshore winds to all locations Friday as the swell eases.
Some new W/SW swell is due over the weekend, with a reinforcing pulse for Monday, generated by a mid-latitude front moving in through the southern Indian Ocean.
An initial pre-frontal fetch of W/NW gales followed by slightly stronger severe-gale trailing W/SW winds should generate a good W/SW groundswell for Saturday, while a weaker trailing front should generate an additional SW swell for Monday.
The first swell looks strongest, peaking through Saturday to 4-6ft across the South West and 1-2ft further north, easing a touch into Sunday, while Monday's swell should come in around 5-6ft and 1-2ft respectively.
Winds will be OK but not great with a S/SE-SE breeze both mornings on the weekend, less favourable from the S tending S/SW on Monday. We'll have a closer look at this Wednesday though.
