Slow until mid-late next week
Southern Tasmanian Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday June 21st)
Best Days: Sunday for beginners
Features of the Forecast (tl;dr)
- Tiny W/SW swell Fri with strong NE winds, easing
- Inconsistent, tiny W/SW groundswell Sun with N/NW winds
Recap
Great 3ft surf yesterday morning with clean conditions before deteriorating slightly into the afternoon. This morning was still 2ft and clean with slower, glassy 1-2ft sets this afternoon.
This week and weekend (Jun 22 – 25)
Following yesterday's good surf and today's sublime conditions, we'll be entering a slow period of activity thanks to the storm track being focussed up across Western Australia and the Bight through the coming days.
We're likely to see a tiny 1ft of swell Friday, generated by a distant fetch to the south-west of Western Australia, with a secondary pulse Sunday possibly going to 1-1.5ft, generated by a similar positioned but stronger fetch today.
Winds on Sunday look great and N/NW all day, ideal for beginners.
Longer term, a stronger Southern Ocean frontal progression is likely early-mid next week bringing some decent swell for mid-late week but we'll review this on Friday.
