Recap

The surf built steadily through the day yesterday with windy conditions, becoming choppier into the afternoon as the swell got larger.

This morning the swell was still solid and cleaner but on the ease, dropping back from the 4ft range across Clifton.

This weekend and next week (Jun 3 – 9)

The frontal system linked to yesterday's and today's swell is clearing off to the east and we'll see the swell easing steadily, dropping back from 2-3ft across Clifton tomorrow morning under early W/NW winds, shifting W/SW late morning and strong SW into the afternoon.

With the earlier arrival of this front, we're expected to see better winds into Sunday morning, back offshore from the NW across Clifton ahead of E'ly afternoon sea breezes.

This will be the arrival of a strong new S/SW groundswell, generated by a tight polar low that's currently south of the country.

A fetch of gale to severe-gale winds will generate a moderate sized + S/SW groundswell, peaking Sunday morning to 4-5ft, easing through the day.

The swell will back off further Monday from 2-3ft along with strengthening N/NE tending NE winds.

As touched on in the last couple of updates, following Sunday's swell we'll enter a slow run of swell as mid-latitude frontal activity pushes up and into Western Australia, too far north of our swell window.

This will see the South Arm becoming tiny to flat through the middle to end of next week with persistent N/NE-NE winds.

We may see some small W'ly swell next weekend and into the following week, but more on this Monday. Have a great weekend!
