Recap

Tiny surf yesterday while we've got some new swell this morning with slow 1-2ft sets and clean conditions.

Inconsistent sets today

This weekend and next week (Apr 29 – May 5)

Today's slow groundswell will be replaced by some better, though still inconsistent swell tomorrow, generated earlier in the week with sets to an infrequent 2ft+.

A strong low dipping south-east across us this afternoon won't be great for generating much in the way of additional swell, with a small front pushing through this evening adding a touch more energy.

All in all expect surf to 2ft with the possible rare bigger one along with all day offshore N/NW winds, easing Sunday from 1-1.5ft with N tending E/NE winds.

Moving into next week we've got fun pulses W/SW energy thanks to a healthy Southern Ocean frontal progression swinging in and under the country from today through the weekend.

An initial fetch of pre-frontal W/NW gales should generate a good pulse Monday afternoon to 2ft+ or so, while a good fetch of trailing strong to gale-force W/SW-W winds should maintain 2ft+ surf, easing Wednesday from 1-2ft.

Conditions look favourable with N tending E winds on Monday, better Tuesday with N/NW winds ahead of weak sea breezes. A cold front will bring W/NW tending strong W/SW winds on Wednesday as the swell eases.

Longer term it looks like we'll see a strengthening polar frontal progression firing up south-west of us later next week, with sizey surf due into the end of the week/next weekend. More on this Monday though. Have a great weekend!
