Recap

Tiny surf yesterday but today our good, building S'ly swell was a clean 2-3ft this morning and with more size expected this afternoon but with sea breezes.

This week and weekend (Apr 7 - 10)

The strong low linked to today's building S'ly swell has quickly continued east out of our swell window today, not before it generated a reinforcing pulse of S/SE swell from its backside.

This swell should fill in tomorrow and maintain 2-3ft sets across Clifton, easing from 1-2ft on Friday morning.

Winds will be favourable and light offshore tomorrow morning, giving into mid-afternoon sea breezes while Friday will see N'ly tending gusty E/NE winds.

The surf will hold around 1ft+ into Saturday and SUnday owing to an inconsistent mid-period W/SW swell filling in and conditions will be good all day for beginners Saturday, offshore Sunday morning ahead of a W/SW change into the afternoon.

Now, this change will be linked to a rapidly deepening low forming south-west of us, with an impressive but fast moving and south-east tracking fetch of severe-gale to storm-force W/SW due to be generated.

This will produce a short-lived spike of strong W/SW-SW groundswell for Monday morning, likely coming in at 3ft+ and with W/NW winds as the low quickly clears to the east. We'll have to review this on Friday because any change to the strength or track of the low will affect the expected size.

The swell will fade rapidly Tuesday under a morning offshore before another trough brings an afternoon change. We've got some new mid-period SW swell due Wednesday but wind wise, it all depends if the trough forms into a low to our north-east or clears to the east. The models are divergent on this so check back Friday for a clearer idea.
