Recap

Plenty of swell yesterday and today but conditions have been poor with onshore winds.

This weekend and next week (Apr 2 - 8)

Unfortunately the weekend will be plagued by onshore winds and minimal swell as a deep and powerful low that’s currently sitting off the southern NSW coast, squeezes against a strong high pressure system that’s moving in front the west.

The low is forecast to actually drop south-west towards us on the weekend, bringing fresh S/SE winds tomorrow, shifting E/SE to E/NE on Sunday but with minimal amounts of swell to 1-2ft.

We’ll fall under the backside of the low on Monday with winds shifting SW again with no decent swell in the water.

Try the East Coast notes for more surfing options generated by the severe Tasman Low.

As the week progresses a trough pushing in from the west is expected to strengthen and form into a low under us, generate a good fetch of strong S’ly winds.

This should kick up a small S’ly swell for later Tuesday and more so Wednesday to 2-3ft but with S/SW winds on the former and S/SE winds on the latter.

Longer term there’s nothing major on the cards unfortunately with weak mid-latitude fronts forecast to push in from the west, a little too high in our swell window. More on this Monday, have a great weekend!
