Recap

A tiny, clean morning of surf on Saturday with Friday afternoon's W/SW swell easing from 1-1.5ft. Yesterday was tiny and bumpy with similar conditions continuing today.

This week and weekend (Mar 1 - 6)

We've got our inconsistent, mid-period W/SW swell due to fill in tomorrow, likely peaking from late morning and holding Wednesday, generated by an elongated polar frontal progression through our swell window (right).

Fetches of strong to severe-gale W-W/NW winds were generated and sets to 2ft are due across Clifton but with strong E/NE winds. These will favour other locations while creating choppy conditions at Clifton. Winds will tend a touch more NE on Wednesday while remaining fresh to strong.

Come Thursday a very inconsistent mix of background W/SW groundswells should maintain 1-2ft sets across Clifton but expect very long waits for sets. Conditions should improve a little with a light NE breeze, freshening into the afternoon with tiny waves Friday under fresh NE tending strong E/NE winds.

Moving into the weekend a deepening surface trough will bring freshening S'ly winds on Saturday, strong S/SW on Sunday as the trough forms into a low off the Gippsland Coast.

It looks like winds will revert back to the NE on Monday but then shift back onshore on Tuesday as we fall under the influence of the backside of the low.

Swell wise there's some healthy polar frontal activity due to move in through the middle to end of this week, under Western Australia bringing persistent surf in the 1-2ft range.

More on this Wednesday though.
