Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 16th July)

Best Days: Every day for beginners

Recap

Tiny and clean waves yesterday while a small S/SE groundswell has provided 1-2ft sets into this morning.

This week and weekend (Jul 17 – 19)

These notes will be brief as Ben's on annual leave.

The little waves seen today are due to fade through tomorrow, back to mostly 1ft with the possibly rare 1.5ft'er in the mix.

The slight kick in W'ly groundswell shown later tomorrow, Friday and through the weekend were generated in our far far swell windows and will be lucky to provide any size at all.

With this we'll see very infrequent 1ft surf, possibly 1.5ft at times if you wait long enough but with favourable conditions for beginners.

Into early next week the surf will remain tiny with a possibly slightly better W/SW groundswell on the cards for Tuesday morning, but again only to 1-1.5ft. This will be generated by a polar front quickly firing up south-west of WA but then pushing north and towards the Bight.

A few unfavourably tracking fronts generating W/NW winds may produce a bit more size to 1-2ft mix-week but we'll have to have another look at this Friday.

The best bet again is to scope the Eastern Tasmanian Forecaster Notes.
