Tiny or onshore and weak
Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Monday 29th June)
Best Days: Friday and Saturday mornings for beginners
Recap
Tiny waves for beginners all weekend, micro today.
This week and weekend (Jun 30 – Jul 3)
The coming period remains very slow with the westerly storm track sitting to north of our swell window and focussed into and under WA this week.
There's no size expected tomorrow and Wednesday with the models over-representing a distant W'ly groundswell that'll likely be tiny to flat.
A weakening mid-latitude low that'll deliver XXL swell to WA and SA will lose all its steam once it enters our swell window Wednesday evening, though the remnants will project a very weak fetch of SW winds into us Friday, generating a weak SW windswell for Saturday.
On Friday there should be a tiny W/SW swell in the water to 1-1.5ft if we're lucky from the weakening low, with the SW windswell maybe to a similar size Saturday.
Winds Friday will be offshore from the NW ahead of an afternoon W/SW change, N/NW tending stronger SW Saturday as a secondary front pushes up and past us.
This looks to generate a bit more windswell on Sunday to 2ft+ but with onshore winds, easing Monday as onshore winds persist.
Longer term the outlook is a touch better but we'll have to have a closer look at this Wednesday.
