Easing surf ahead of new swells for the weekend
Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 17th June)
Best Days: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, possibly Sunday
Recap
A continuation of good W/SW swell yesterday to a clean 3ft across Clifton, with our strongest pulse today offering bigger 3-4ft sets.
This week and weekend (Jun 18 - 21)
Today's swell should have started to ease this afternoon and we'll see it continuing to drop through tomorrow from a clean and fun 2-3ft under N/NW tending N/NE winds. Friday will be smaller and easing from 1ft to possibly 2ft with N tending variable winds.
Our new S/SW groundswell for Saturday is on track and it looks like there's a slight upgrade in the expected size as well.
This will be generated tomorrow and early Friday but a polar fetch of gale to severe-gale W/SW winds.
A good kick to 3ft should be seen through the day Saturday, undersized early, easing back from 2-3ft on Sunday. N/NE tending E/NE winds will favour some spots and not others while Sunday is still unsure with the models divergent on the positioning and location of a broad low across us. We could see poor E'ly winds continuing along with a building windswell or better offshore N/NW winds. Check back here Friday for the final look at this.
The longer term outlook remains void of any major swell activity so make the most of the coming days of surf.
