Fading surfing options this period
Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 1st April)
Best Days: Selected spots tomorrow, Friday
Recap
Clean and fun waves to 2ft yesterday morning, building further into the afternoon, easing back from a fun 2ft this morning.
This week and next (Apr 2 - 5)
We've seen the strongest and best of the swell expected this week fill in, and from tomorrow expect smaller though still fun surf to 1-2ft across the South Arm, similar Friday but then easing.
This background energy has been produced by weaker but favourable fronts pushing through the Southern Ocean, south of WA earlier this week.
Winds tomorrow are an issue and E/NE (freshening through the day), creating average to poor conditions across Clifton, better at other locations. Friday will be cleaner with a N/NW tending stronger N/NE breeze.
Saturday will be clean again but tiny with no decent swell left in the mix.
Now, looking at the mid-latitude low and frontal activity moving in over the weekend and there's nothing really of substance or size due for our region.
Most of the activity will occur too far north and out of our swell window, with a slightly better burst of strong W/SW winds maybe generating 1-2ft of swell for Monday.
The longer term prospects are better with a good polar front likely to move in early next week. More on this Friday though.
